Friday-night Korean BBQ with green onion kimchi in Gueui: Sanggu's
In short
Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Achasan-ro in Gwangjin, Seoul, between Gangbyeon and Gueui stations. On a Friday 7pm return visit, the writer waited for a table, then ate the half-plate set of pork belly and pork neck — grilled by staff with aged kimchi, bean sprouts, green onion kimchi and bracken fern — and finished with fried rice. With 1,900 won draft beer and a free self-serve wrap vegetable bar, Sanggu's made a filling, good-value meal for two.

Where is Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch, and when is it open?

Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch is at 444 Achasan-ro, 1st floor, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 11am to 2am. Last order is at 1am.

How long is the Friday 7pm wait, and why tell the staff first?
I tried it once before and it was so good I went back. This visit was around 7pm on a Friday. Last time I went in the morning and it was pretty relaxed, but of course Fridays need a wait. There were 2 groups ahead of us and we just stood there, but you have to tell the staff!!
There are chairs in front of the store, so make sure to tell the staff you're waiting. They seem to keep a separate list of names. We didn't know that and just stood there ㅠㅠ

1,900 won draft beer and self-serve side dishes at Sanggu's
Draft beer is ₩1,900, and they also have lemon and grapefruit draft beer. Perfect for a drink after work on a Friday, right? Seems like there are 3 kinds of beer. The beer is great value too!!! Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal — you can eat here without worrying about the bill.

The basic side dishes came out. You can grab extra sides from the self-serve bar. I always end up refilling the pickled radish haha. The peppers and garlic they set out separately don't get much attention from me — I'm team pickled radish.

What comes in the half-plate set, and who grills the pork?
They said it's a specially made domestic cauldron-lid grill. They coat it in pork fat first, then put the meat on. It comes with aged kimchi + secret-recipe seasoned bean sprouts + green onion kimchi + bracken fern, and there also seems to be an option with water dropwort on top, but we just ordered what my friend and I had last time — the pork belly and pork neck combo.
The really great thing about Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is that the staff grill all the meat for you ㅠㅠ It's honestly so annoying when meat gets burned, but all the staff are trained in grilling so they cook it just right.
Having to grill your own meat when you're already paying for it? Such a hassle lol. Maybe it's just me. Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal grilling the meat well — nice. Watching them grill it made my mouth water.

The wrap vegetable bar at Sanggu's is free and unlimited
Unlimited refills of lettuce wraps, mushrooms and peppers, and it's free! I just grab perilla leaves, enoki mushrooms and sweet pumpkin ~ I don't tend to add a lot of extras when eating meat haha. Just grab what you'll actually eat. Seriously great value. These days everything costs extra, so this is the best. It's not pre-set at your table, so go grab it yourself!

Sai insisting on getting the big one. Seems like she drinks beer about once a week. That's plenty for you.

Perilla leaf wrap with green onion kimchi and bracken fern
The bracken fern and green onion kimchi are seriously delicious ㅠㅠ The bracken fern is a total winner. Time to eat the meat the staff grilled so nicely.

Put pickled radish, bean sprouts, green onion kimchi, meat, and pickled onion all on a perilla leaf and it's amazing!!!!!!
Didn't you say you don't eat wraps? Once it's right there, sai wraps it up nicely. Big bites, chowing down happily. I think the half-plate set is just right for us. We're not big eaters, so finishing it off with the set's fried rice is the perfect amount.

Ordering the set's fried rice with the staff-call button
Since the staff were busy on a Friday, we didn't need to call out loud. There's a staff-call option for requesting the set fried rice! Press it quietly and they come and make it for you like this.

Fried rice with bean sprouts mixed in too. I don't like it hard, so I eat it as soon as it's served haha. I hate having to scrape the pan...

Finished off the fried rice completely haha. Some of the grilled side dishes were left over lol, but the main dish got scraped clean. Fried rice passed sai's test too. Next time I want to bring the coworker who works with sai. Perfect spot for a team dinner.

Payment methods and the lunch special at Sanggu's
Both Seoul Pay and Kakao Pay worked for payment. Pay with whichever is convenient. Sai was treating today lol. Thanks for the meal.

There's also a lunch special, so it seems like a good spot for the Coupang employees who work nearby to grab lunch too. Shabu kalguksu!! I'll have to come try it for lunch next time. On a weekday, of course haha.

Guaranteed great value. A delicious Friday meal at Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, a Gueui favorite! Sai tried it for the first time today and said she'll come again. I see why families come here a lot too. Gotta eat here again next time ㅎ_ㅎ
