I went to enjoy beer and pork at Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch, a Korean BBQ restaurant near Gueui Station.
I received a meal voucher to visit, and I paid out of pocket for anything beyond what was provided.

Where is Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch, and what are the hours?
📍Address: 444 Achasan-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul
✔️Hours: open from 11am to 2am the next day
✔️Grilling service provided: this is a Gwangjin restaurant where staff grill the meat for you.
It felt like a shame to keep this place to myself, so I brought my mother, who loves sotttukkeong samgyeopsal, for a revisit after a long while. In the past I mostly came here with friends, but this time it was a family dinner.

Inside Sanggu's: the self-serve wrap vegetable bar
Nothing had changed inside — it was still a clean, comfortable Korean BBQ restaurant near Gueui Station, good for group dinners. Every table has its own grill plate, topped with fernbrake, bean sprouts, and cabbage kimchi. Once it hit past 5pm, customers started streaming in.

The self-serve corner inside the restaurant had a variety of wrap vegetables — garlic stems, beets, lettuce, perilla leaves, eggplant, and sweet pumpkin.

At the self-serve corner near the entrance, there were small plates, tongs, scissors, and wet wipes. This one also had garlic, cabbage kimchi, fernbrake, and ssamjang (dipping sauce).

Menu and prices: half-plate set and 1,900 won draft beer
The half-plate set includes 500g of pork, a draft beer or drink, and even fried rice.

Draft beer is 1,900 won for 300cc and 3,900 won for 500cc. They even have grapefruit beer! Since it's a Gueui Station restaurant where drinking won't break the bank, you can just enjoy beer or soju with pork as your side dish. Soju was 2,900 won too! Adding minari, green onion kimchi, or dried radish greens is 3,000 won each.

For lunch, there was shabu-shabu kalguksu (noodle soup), plus naengmyeon (cold noodles), kimchi jjigae, and doenjang jjigae on the menu.
The complimentary water served is heotgae tea. It's toasty and refreshing, nice to drink before the meal. Beyond the basic side dishes staff bring out, you can grab whatever wrap vegetables you like from the self-serve corner.
Ordering 600g of pork jowl, jjondeuksal and fresh pork belly
The half-plate set (500g) looked good too, but I ordered à la carte to enjoy the special cuts of pork.

I ordered one serving each of pork jowl (17,800 won), jjondeuksal (17,800 won), and fresh pork belly (15,800 won). (600g total)

Staff grilled the meat with real care. The pork jowl looked almost like a steak, and the marbling was pretty decent too.

My mom said the sweet pumpkin was delicious and ate it enthusiastically. They also grilled onion, bean sprouts, kimchi, garlic, and enoki mushrooms in the pork fat.

I've eaten pork belly often at Sanggu's Gueui branch, but I never get tired of it. The pork jowl had just the right amount of marbling, so it was savory with a great texture.

The garlic stems, grilled in the fat, were crispy outside and crunchy inside. I usually don't think much of garlic stems, but grilled this way they were surprisingly good — I went back to the self-serve corner for more.

Finishing the meal with draft beer at Sanggu's
Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is a great Korean BBQ restaurant near Gueui Station for enjoying draft beer. Each glass was 1,900 won, with a decent head and a smooth finish that was easy to drink. Partway through the meal I also ordered a can of Zero Pepsi Lime, and asked the staff for a glass of ice to drink it with.

I finished the meal with jjondeuksal. As the name suggests, its chewy texture stood out, and it was a lean, light cut without much fat. My mom, who had never been to this restaurant before, said she enjoyed it a lot thanks to the variety of vegetables and tasty meat.

Since we'd been drinking, I finished off with heotgae tea in a paper cup too.

If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant near Gueui Station where you can enjoy good draft beer, Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch seems like a solid choice.
