Lately every time I looked at my nails I kept thinking I needed to get them done, ugh. It'd been a bit over a month since my last set, and my nails had grown out with the edges looking messy.

I happened to have plans near Hongdae, so I looked up nail salons in the area! The place I went to before was cheap but hard to book, and it never felt very meticulous, so this time I paid an extra ₩10,000 and went to a shop in the ₩40,000 range instead.

There are so many nail salons in Hongdae that a search turns up tons of options. Since I also care about price, this time I focused on shops in Hongdae with cheaper monthly art.

Somewhere too expensive felt like too much, but I also didn't want to choose based on price alone, so I compared designs and reviews too — and this time I ended up at Byuazeu Hongdae.

Where is Byuazeu? 5 minutes on foot from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 9

Choosing the cross design from monthly art starting in the ₩40,000s

Byuazeu's monthly art starts from the ₩40,000s, super super cheap! I agonized over the design and picked a style I could actually wear on a regular basis!

This cross design!! I picked it because it's hip and the fall-toned colors were pretty.

Gel removal, nail care and the round square shape

I heard all the staff at this shop have been doing this for a long time, and you can tell — their hands are so fast at removal and care!!

Design matters for nails, but removal and care matter just as much, right?

Once the gel goes on the design can look pretty, but if the area around the nail and the cuticles aren't clean, the whole thing feels a bit off. Experience plus a super meticulous personality, I think🥺🥺

After removal and care were done, she matched up the nail lengths first and then shaped them. I switched from gel to gel — no extensions needed since my nails had grown out enough, which made me so happy >.< The shape was round square~~~~~👏🏻 Each nail had a slightly different shape, so just evening that out alone made everything look a lot cleaner.

Nail prices these days are gold-level pricey... Ask about different designs and you get extra charges piling up part by part, and if you keep choosing pretty designs the total climbs higher than you first planned, ugh. So this time I searched from the start with a ₩40,000s budget as my standard!!

I thought this would be good for anyone who wants a mood boost without too much financial pressure, like me. But whether I actually went with the ₩59,000 design in the end... that's not a secret👀

Switching to a nude color after a color test

I compared a bunch of options and picked one, but once it was actually on my nails it felt different from how it looked in photos.

After care was done, color test time~~~ I'm indecisive so I was being picky, but she kindly helped me test every color I wanted! I decided to go sexier... nude instead of the original design color, so I switched the monthly art's color🥵

Just the right amount of clean + sexy nude + a point design on top!! Once it was finished, my hands looked way longer than I expected and so pretty, I loved it🫠

Pretty, right???? As always, once your nails are done you just keep looking at your hands~~ checking them once while on my phone

This time I was happy to get a thorough, meticulous service at a place with 10 years of experience. Getting my nails done again after a while was a proper mood reset. Honestly nails aren't something you absolutely have to get done — you could just tidy up your nails a bit and paint on one color at home. But every once in a while, going to a shop for care and a pretty design like this,

keeps me in a good mood for those few days afterward✨🥵 Every time I look at neatly done nails it's the best mood booster!! I'm already browsing the monthly art lineup for what design to try next.
