Gwacheon hair salon layered cut with no reference photo: One & Only

In short

One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station is a hair salon on basement level 1 of the building directly in front of Gwacheon Government Complex Station in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. The writer arrived with long straight hair past the chest and no reference photo, and manager Minjeong chose a layered cut through consultation alone, finishing in exactly 1 hour on a weekday evening appointment. The cut softened a round face and tidied the fringe, making it a satisfying Gwacheon layered cut.

How to find One & Only Hair at Gwacheon Government Complex Station

One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station is a hair salon in the basement of the building right in front of Gwacheon Government Complex Station. Go in through Gate A, take the elevator down, and it's right there. The building itself is brand new.

My hair was way overdue for a cut, so I went for a mood reset.

Once you get to the basement, the signage pointing to One & Only is really clear — you'll spot it right away. On weekdays they're open until 9pm, which was great because I could just drop by after work.

The interior clearly had a lot of thought put into it — bright and clean. It's all glass, so you can see straight inside.

These days most people book ahead and already know the prices when they visit a Gwacheon hair salon, but there's a price list posted outside too — worth checking if you want.

Inside the Gwacheon salon on a weekday evening

Let me show you the inside of One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station. As soon as you walk in, someone greets you at the station, and while you're sitting on the plush sofa, the designer you booked comes out to greet you.

I went after work on a weekday evening and it was busy — every single hair designer was working on a client.

Maybe because it's a new shop in a clean, newly built building, everything felt fresh and tidy. It also didn't feel crowded or chaotic, which made the whole experience more pleasant. I couldn't see everything clearly from the shampoo room, but it looked like they carry a small, specialized lineup of products up front. In the shampoo room they actually used functional shampoo and treatment products on my hair too.

What was the consultation like with no reference photo?

I was styled by manager Minjeong. I had long straight hair and hadn't really decided on a specific style — I just went in and let her recommend one. Usually when you show up with zero reference photos, designers get pretty flustered.

Manager Minjeong was incredibly thorough and precise. She showed me reference photos first, thought carefully about my face shape and hair texture, and picked out several designs she thought would really suit me. I loved that. She was especially precise about pinning down exactly where the length should end and what mood to go for — pointing things out like, 'cut it to here, this kind of vibe.'

This was the first time I'd ever had such a thorough consultation before a service, and I loved it. Usually if you don't come in with a very specific style in mind, salons kind of wing it, and unless you're going for something really unusual they don't look this closely. In that sense, manager Minjeong at this Gwacheon hair salon really stood out compared to other designers I've been to — maybe because she's the manager, but I was genuinely impressed.

Hair condition and concerns before the layered cut

My hair before the cut was basically Rapunzel-level long and damaged. It was so long that I had zero volume at the crown, it just hung flat, and I hated how it kept getting caught in chairs, so I came in for an emergency cut.

My original length went down past my chest. The thing I cared about most was a design that would soften my round face, and I wanted to cut off as much as possible while still reading as 'long hair' — a pretty complicated ask, haha.

The Gwacheon layered cut result

Now let me show you the results of my Gwacheon layered cut. I went with a layered cut, choosing the style I liked best from the photos Minjeong showed me. As you can see, the back is left very long.

The front is cut into beautiful, distinct layers. Whenever I asked her to trim a bit more here and there mid-cut, she reflected that perfectly too.

If you're someone who blow-dries regularly, this cut can hold that full, pretty shape — but for people like me who don't maintain it as much, it just looks like a normal everyday hairstyle, haha. Another thing I loved: my bangs always used to turn out badly whenever I got a haircut, and it was a real source of stress.

Styled bangs and face-framing pieces

This was, out of every salon I've ever been to, the best my bangs have ever been styled — I was so happy. Every other time, the salon would mess up my bangs and side face-framing pieces, and I'd have to suffer through growing them out for about a month.

Here's the finished look. It took exactly 1 hour, just as listed on Naver Place. She washed my hair thoroughly, gave a long and thoughtful consultation, and I loved the final result too.

When I got home with this hair, my family — even though they knew it was a sponsored visit — kept saying how pretty it was and actually asked me which salon it was. I'd never seen them react like that before.

That's how pretty and satisfying this Gwacheon layered cut turned out to be.
