My wedding is about a month away, so I've been in the thick of final prep! Before the big day I've also got a regional pre-wedding reception, and I've been stressing over what to do with my nails for both the reception and the main ceremony. Since the reception comes first, I decided to get my wedding nails done early.

The place I went to was Naeil Didi, a nail salon in Apgujeong Rodeo! I'd been following them on Instagram for a while since I heard they always do clean, tidy work, and they had so many wedding nail designs that I'd had my eye on them while planning the wedding 👀

I've never really liked gel nails that go on too thick or bumpy. Wedding nails especially end up in a lot of photos, and your hands show a lot when you're in a dress, so I figured a clean finish mattered most. So this time I went for a clean look rather than anything flashy.

From the absolute worst-case before photo to a total transformation after care 🤍 I'd picked at a previous gel manicure and my nail layers were completely peeled up. Please don't do what I did. If it starts lifting, go straight to a salon and get it removed ㅠㅠ Protect your nails at all costs!!

How much are powder nails? 55,000 won gel + powder = 70,000 won

Regular gel nails cost ₩55,000, and I added powder nails this time for ₩70,000 total. It's basically a white base gel with powder layered on top for a shimmery effect. Honestly this was my first time properly trying powder nails, and once it was finished it looked way prettier than I expected.

The shine is seriously pretty.

It's not the sparkly glitter kind of shine but more like a soft, pearly glow. It catches the light and sparkles without being too flashy, which makes it perfect for a demure wedding look. Honestly the shine was so nice that depending on the angle I could almost see my face reflected in my nails lol

It's pretty in photos, but the shine is even prettier in person. Being white also made my hands look cleaner, and I could tell it would go really well with a wedding dress. I wore an organza blouse with a long dress to the reception and it matched perfectly!

The best part: a thin, clean finish

When I get my nails done, the finish matters to me just as much as the design. A badly done gel manicure can leave the nail surface bumpy or the gel too thick, making the nails look clunky, but Naeil Didi had none of that. Everything went on thin and clean, so the nail shape looked natural, and the finish was tidy even from the side.

Personally I think this kind of detail really matters when choosing a nail salon. Even with elaborate art, the basic shape and finish have to be clean for the result to look good. Getting this done reminded me all over again why quality matters most for wedding nails. Especially for an event as important as a wedding, even the small things get noticed.

Why the plan for the main wedding nails changed

Honestly, I originally planned to keep the main ceremony nails simple too — just a clean French mani or white nails. I've always liked simple, clean wedding nails, so I never even considered anything flashy. But seeing Naeil Didi's wedding nail designs in person completely changed my mind lol Their lace-style wedding nails were gorgeous, and even the more elaborate designs with parts attached turned out way prettier than I expected.

I especially thought that if you're wearing a simple dress, adding a bit of flair to your nails could look really nice. You can see the designs on Instagram too, but seeing the finished designs in the salon in person made me like them even more. So for the main ceremony, I'm planning to get slightly fancier wedding nails here. I've already got a design in mind lol

Friends' reactions and how the powder gel held up after a week

After getting this manicure, both my friends and relatives said the nail art looked pretty. A lot of people mentioned that the soft shimmer made it look a bit more special than plain white nails. I'd originally planned to keep it simple, but once I actually tried it, the pearly glow unique to powder nails really suited the wedding mood.

Naeil Didi charges ₩70,000 total even with the powder add-on on top of a regular gel manicure, which felt reasonable considering it's for wedding nails in Apgujeong Rodeo. Most of all, the finish quality was excellent, so satisfaction was at 200%!! I loved the thin, clean finish I care about most, and the shine on the powder nails was really pretty.

Even after a week, still clean with no lifting!!
