Since I came alone, I sat at the bar table. But seriously, that bar table is SO wide hahahaha. Really, really wide. I've never seen a bar table this spacious before... Solo diners can eat comfortably without feeling cramped at all.

What I ordered: motsu tonkotsu ramen and gyudon together

I ordered motsu tonkotsu ramen plus gyudon (rice bowl). I was hungry, so even eating alone I tried two dishes hehe.

How does the motsu tonkotsu ramen taste?

Motsu tonkotsu ramen comes with beef tripe (motsu, gopchang) added to the tonkotsu ramen. The combo of soft noodles and chewy tripe was great. On top of that, the rich, savory tonkotsu broth was genuinely delicious.

With so many different toppings, it was fun mixing and matching each one with the noodles, and I especially liked that it wasn't too salty — the tonkotsu flavor really came through.

When I first tasted it, I thought "this is good~" but then the next day I found myself craving it again. I think if I come back, I'll order the motsu tonkotsu ramen again. For anyone looking for a great lunch spot near City Hall Station, I highly recommend Mentsuru City Hall Branch!!

How was the gyudon beef rice bowl?

The gyudon is another reason I recommend Mentsuru City Hall Branch as a lunch spot near City Hall Station. Since rice bowls are on the menu too, ramen lovers can have ramen while those who don't feel full on noodles alone can fill up on gyudon — great for groups where everyone can be satisfied.

The gyudon had a light fire-grilled flavor that made it even tastier, and eating the soy-sauce-based rice with a burst egg yolk mixed in made it rich and satisfying. The gyudon was genuinely delicious.

It was tastier than I expected, the atmosphere inside was nice, and it's easy to drop into casually — I think I'll be coming back often. Good stuff.

Mentsuru City Hall Branch is a 2-minute walk from Exit 10 of City Hall Station. It'll probably be busy during lunch hours, but with basement seating too, the wait shouldn't be too long. The roomy bar table makes it great for solo dining, and there are four-top tables for groups too — either way, it's a place where you can comfortably enjoy a range of Japanese food from ramen to donburi.
