Busan BBQ with a Jeju pork belly and jjolmyeon set: Daepae Maket

Every time I take my kid out to eat, I look for a place with a playroom — and honestly, they're hard to find. Then I found one right near Daeyeon Station! We had a hearty meal with the pork belly + jjolmyeon set plus an added kimchi stew. The self bar had way more variety than I expected, so I lost count of how many trips I made back and forth haha. Here's my honest review of Daepae Maket Daeyeon Branch for anyone looking for a place to eat meat comfortably with kids :)

Know what's the first thing I check when heading out to eat with my kid? Sure, the menu matters, but I always look for whether there's a playroom or not haha. Especially at BBQ restaurants. The grill is hot, the kid can't sit still, and one parent ends up grilling while the other chases the kid around — you walk out not even remembering what you ate ㅠㅠ

So I always wished there were more places with playrooms, but in reality they're rare. This time, I finally found a good one!

Where is Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, and how far is Exit 5 of Daeyeon Station?

The place I visited was Daepae Maket Daeyeon Branch. Coming out of Exit 5 of Daeyeon Station and walking a short distance along the main road, you'll spot it right away — no getting lost even on a first visit!

Walking inside, the place was much bigger than I expected! And for a BBQ restaurant, it was so clean!

What is the kids' playroom at Daepae Maket in Daeyeon-dong like?

The thing I was most looking forward to on this visit was the kids' zone. Daepae Maket Daeyeon Branch has a separate play space for kids inside the restaurant, so anyone looking for a Daeyeon-dong restaurant with a playroom should check this place first!

There were play elements for kids to explore and enjoy. While my kid played, we finally got to properly grill some meat for once.

What's on the Daepae Maket self bar, plus the free fish cake soup

Once you sit down, they bring out a kettle of fish cake soup haha.

Once it's boiling, the broth tastes amazing, seriously :)

After grabbing our seats, the first thing we did was check out the self bar — and that surprised me again.

Lettuce wraps were a given, plus bracken fern, bean sprouts, kimchi, mushrooms and more — a genuinely wide range of things that go great with meat.

The restaurant's intro says the self bar has around 30 items, but seeing it in person, it felt like even more?

The vegetables looked really fresh too :) Thin-cut pork belly really tastes best eaten with vegetables, so it was great being able to help ourselves as much as we wanted.

How did the Jeju pork belly and vegetable jjolmyeon set with kimchi stew taste?

What we ordered was the pork belly + jjolmyeon set. We also added a kimchi stew on top of that. At Daepae Maket, the meat is sliced fresh right after you order.

Since the pork belly is sliced so thin, it cooked quickly the moment it hit the grill, so the wait was short! When you're hungry, waiting for meat to cook is so agonizing haha.

The salad bar was packed with exactly the things I love — mushrooms, potatoes, garlic stems, sundae (blood sausage), bracken fern — so I piled them on without hesitation and grilled away :)

It's delicious eaten this way, and just as delicious eaten that way! And then the jjolmyeon (spicy cold chewy noodles) arrived, with a genuinely huge portion :)

Taking a bite of crispy-grilled pork belly wrapped in lettuce and then alternating with tangy jjolmyeon in between left no room to feel greasy. The meat-and-jjolmyeon combo really never fails haha.

I added the kimchi stew planning to eat it with rice partway through the meat, and that hot, savory broth was so good haha. It's why you always end up ordering some kind of stew at a BBQ place!

Is Daepae Maket a good family dinner spot with a young child?

Honestly, going to a BBQ restaurant with a kid always required some mental preparation, but this time I really got to eat comfortably for once in a while. With a playroom, the kid could enjoy herself while we adults leisurely went back and forth to the self bar and grilled at our own pace.

On top of that, they're open late on weekdays and open from lunchtime on weekends, so there's plenty of flexibility on timing :) I've definitely saved this on my list of Daeyeon-dong restaurants with playrooms to take my kid to! Don't forget the ice cream on your way out♥
