Osan restaurant for pollack hot pot and pollack sashimi salad: Dami

While looking for a place to eat in Osan, I ended up at Dami Sik in Nueup-dong. It's a spot where you can enjoy Chinese dishes alongside a variety of hot pots, so picking a menu item was half the fun.

This time I wanted to try a bunch of things, so I ordered yuringi (crispy fried meat with sweet-tangy sauce) and a small pollack hot pot with pollack sashimi salad. I hadn't planned it from the start, but it was so good I ended up ordering a second pollack sashimi salad.

The first thing that caught my eye

Walking in, I noticed there was more than just food — there was a self-serve fried egg station too. It's a space where you can fry your own egg, whether before the meal or while waiting for food to arrive.

Having a self-serve zone like this somehow makes the whole meal feel like more of an occasion.

I tried it out myself — I was with my young niece and had planned to wrap rice in seaweed for her, but I was so happy to find the fried eggs there. She must have liked them, because she skipped the seaweed and just ate the fried eggs. I saw people ordering the sizzling stone jjajang in large portions, and I thought topping it with a soft-fried egg would be the perfect combo.

Having a space like this made the whole visit more memorable than just snapping photos of the food and eating.

What we ordered that day

This time we ordered yuringi and a small pollack hot pot with pollack sashimi salad. I thought the menu might be a bit limited at first, but once the dishes started coming out, there was plenty of variety to taste.

What made Dami Sik interesting is that it's not just a typical Osan Chinese restaurant — you can also get hot pots and pollack sashimi salad here.

Starting with crispy yuringi

First, we tried the yuringi.

It looked delicious, so I picked up a piece right away. The meat was thick and the batter was crispy. Eaten together with the lettuce and peppers tossed in sauce, it was pure bliss. When I eat yuringi, I really care about the balance between the sauce and the fried coating, and this one hit that balance well.

What I liked most was how thick and chunky the meat was. If you're visiting with a group, instead of ordering just one dish, adding something shareable like yuringi is a good idea.

Next we tried the pollack hot pot. We ordered the small size, and the pollack sashimi salad came alongside it.

There's a certain joy to eating a hot pot bubbling away warm. Even at the small size, the portion was huge. Just looking at it, you could tell how generous it was 🥹 The spicy broth, savory roe and milt, moist pollack flesh, and soft tofu — every part was delicious.

And the pollack sashimi salad that came with it was unforgettable too.

The pollack sashimi salad works fine eaten on its own or paired with other dishes, so my hand kept reaching for it throughout the meal. Most places serve this kind of salad with thin wheat noodles, but Dami Sik uses Chinese noodles instead, which gave it a chewy, springy texture like jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) — even better, honestly.

The seasoning was great, mixing in the noodles made it even better, and eating it with perilla leaves and onion made it better still — I was thoroughly satisfied. This was the dish that eventually made me order a second round.

Ended up ordering a second pollack sashimi salad

Honestly, I hadn't planned on a second order going in. But once I started eating the first pollack sashimi salad, my hand kept reaching for it more than expected. So I ended up ordering one more.

The combination of the pollack sashimi salad and noodles was excellent, and it paired well with the pollack hot pot too. There was so much food we ended up taking leftovers home, but it was a happy, stuffed-to-the-brim meal. A flavor I'll be craving again.

What stood out was how wide the menu range is — you can come here craving Chinese food, or craving something warm like hot pot. If you're looking for good food in Nueup-dong, this place is worth checking out. If you like ordering several dishes to share like I do, pairing yuringi with the pollack hot pot is a solid choice. But honestly, what I remember most is ordering that extra pollack sashimi salad.

I have to admit — at first I thought 'huh?' seeing a Chinese restaurant selling pollack hot pot, and I regret doubting it. Every single dish was delicious. Next time I want to try the sizzling stone jjajang, but I also want the pollack hot pot again — I'll just go with whatever I'm craving when I get there. I'd definitely go back!!!!
