When I opened up the Gimssi Chicken Amsa Market Branch dakgangjeong at home, even though the heat had gone, the thick sauce was still glossy — not soggy at all, still crispy, and it had cooled into something even shinier and tastier.

Dakgangjeong really is all about the sauce! We went with the mild version since we were eating with the kids! Even I, who's a bit weak with spice, found the mild version just right.

Seriously incredible, ㅠ A taste that shows off the basics of dakgangjeong done right! No need to go all the way to Sokcho for dakgangjeong. Really delicious, gone in a flash! The boneless chicken pieces were nice and hearty too, generous portion, and the sauce was really good.

Skewer a rice cake in with the chicken and it's even better — and there's so much rice cake I genuinely wondered if this price makes sense... Between the two, I'd recommend the seasoned version over fried, for real! But fried has its own charm too! The crunchy texture was great and the savoriness appealing, and upgraded into chibap (chicken over rice) it was really delicious too. Properly crispy outside, juicy inside.
