Kalguksu restaurant near Gyodae Station with baby rice balls: Daseon
In short
Daseon Kalguksu is a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) and bossam (boiled pork) restaurant a 2-minute walk from Gyodae Station Exit 14 in Seocho, Seoul, with parking right out front. Four adults and one baby ordered a large bossam, spicy octopus kalguksu for two, plain kalguksu for one and meat dumplings, and along with the unlimited barley rice the staff made a seaweed rice ball just for the baby. I had somewhere to be near Gyodae Station and while looking for a place to eat with family, I ended up at Daseon Kalguksu, famous as a Gyodae Station favorite!
Daseon Kalguksu is already well known as a great-value spot near Gyodae Station, and it even has parking, which made me like it even more! Not many restaurants right in the middle of Gangnam offer free parking, right? Being able to visit without worrying about parking was such a plus haha.
I visited with my baby, and they took such great care of her — I was so touched ㅜㅜ We ordered a bunch of different menu items to try, so let me go through each one in detail! Here's my honest review of Daseon Kalguksu, starting now!
Where Daseon Kalguksu is and when it opens

This is the exterior of Daseon Kalguksu — parking available!!!! Restaurants with parking are rare in Gangnam~ There's a parking lot right in front, so no need to worry about parking!
Daytime drinks and evening set menus near Gyodae Station
A 25-year-old original haejang (hangover) kalguksu restaurant with evening specials: the soju set for ₩73,000 with clam soup, bossam, and spicy octopus stir-fry, and the makgeolli set for ₩69,000 with conch chive salad, bossam, and assorted pancakes. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a drink in Gyodae in the evening.
No break time here! Day drinking in Gyodae is possible!
Two floors of seating for group and family meals
There are two floors! I visited during an odd late-lunch slot on a weekend, and there were still quite a lot of people eating.
There's spacious seating on the second floor too — I'd recommend this for company dinners, family meals, or gatherings near Gyodae Station.

A Gyodae favorite that's even been featured on the TV show Live Today! Their main branch was famous in Suwon, and now they have one in Gyodae too! The broth is made from 8 kinds of ingredients — anchovies, seafood, and vegetables — and apparently boiled fresh every morning.
Unlimited barley rice provided.
A note about Daseon Kalguksu's Chuseok holiday closure — closed only on the 25th, back to normal hours from the 26th, just so you know.

Unlimited barley rice and a seaweed rice ball for the baby
They set the table like this before we even ordered haha. The barley rice that comes as a side is unlimited refill!

What really touched me was that without me even asking, they made a rice ball just for the baby! Since she can't eat the barley rice bibimbap, they made her a seaweed-packed rice ball, and I was so grateful!

The baby ate the nutty seaweed-packed barley rice ball really well — such a savory taste!

Gochujang (red pepper paste) and pepper are on the table to use to taste.

The kimchi here is delicious — the radish kimchi is good too, and so is the cabbage kimchi.

Add more of the spicy radish salad into the barley rice bibimbap and mix it up.

We ate the barley rice as a starter while deciding on the menu haha.
What four adults and one baby ordered at Daseon Kalguksu
This is Daseon Kalguksu's menu — there are set menus too, plus bossam, kalguksu, naengmyeon (cold noodles), dumplings, and more — really varied.
We visited with 4 adults and 1 baby, and ordered a large bossam, spicy octopus kalguksu for two, plain kalguksu for one, and dumplings.

Daseon Kalguksu does have a baby chair!

How big is the large bossam, and how does it taste?
This is the radish served with the bossam (boiled pork) — sweet and spicy, delicious.

This is the large size bossam — pretty huge portion, right?? When you buy bossam elsewhere, the portion is often disappointing for the price, but here the amount is really generous.
Doesn't it look so good?

Kimchi, lettuce, and garlic to eat alongside the bossam.
The bossam here is seriously delicious!!!! It's so tender it just melts.
Eaten with kimchi or dried radish strips, it's not the least bit greasy — so good.

Meat dumplings, ordered with the baby in mind
These are the meat dumplings — I ordered them for the baby to eat, but... is this actually a dumpling specialist restaurant too??
I cut them up for the baby and she ate them so well!!! This is a dumpling restaurant haha — dipped in soy sauce, absolutely delicious.

How the clam kalguksu at Daseon Kalguksu tastes
This is Daseon Kalguksu — think of it as clam knife-cut noodles.
The broth is clear and clean, packed with clams, and not a single grain of sand in them, which was great. The noodles weren't soggy — chewy and springy, with a clean broth. Really loved it.

The signature spicy octopus kalguksu for two
This is Daseon Kalguksu's signature best-seller menu.

The broth is spicy — not extremely hot, more like a clean, spicy jang kalguksu flavor. The broth was so good I kept spooning it up.
Whole octopus pieces went into it! Getting whole octopus like this at this price is actually a bargain — and there's a generous amount too.
This is the portion for two, but ha ha ha, it's really a lot... it's like the 2-person portion of a typical kalguksu place equals a 3-person portion here.
The broth is spicy and refreshing, perfect as a hangover cure. Great for haejang kalguksu! Loaded with clams and octopus, and the noodles here are really chewy and springy — so delicious.
Eating the noodles and octopus together, then spooning up the broth — seriously amazing.
The bossam was also great dipped in ssamjang (dipping sauce) or eaten with salted shrimp — tender, soft bossam that exceeded expectations, very satisfying.

Too much food: the dumplings went home in a takeout box
The kalguksu portions were bigger than expected and the bossam was plentiful too, so we got full and packed the leftover dumplings to take home. Overall, the portions are generous haha — don't force yourself to finish, just pack the rest and enjoy it again at home~
Daseon Kalguksu, our Gyodae favorite for a family meal out! Everyone in the family was fully satisfied haha.
Every single menu item exceeded expectations!!!! Looking for a Gyodae Station restaurant? Looking for kalguksu, bossam, naengmyeon, or dumplings near Gyodae Station? Looking for a restaurant with parking near Gyodae Station? Looking for a baby-friendly restaurant near Gyodae Station? Looking for a great-value restaurant near Gyodae Station? I highly recommend Daseon Kalguksu's Gyodae branch🩷
