Cooking grilled fish at home while living alone was always a hassle because of the smell and smoke, so I went looking for a proper grilled fish specialist that cooks over a wood-fired oven at over 500℃ haha

That place is Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch, a well-known grilled fish restaurant in Jowon-dong! It's close to Suwon KT Wiz Park and the Jangan-gu Office, so it's a great spot for a meal before or after a baseball game, or for a family outing 👍🏻

Let me give you my honest review of enjoying crispy-outside, tender-inside grilled fish along with the unlimited self-serve bar.

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch has a large dining room and a Korean menu that pretty much everyone likes, so it's a really comfortable choice for family outings, office lunches, or work dinners haha

It's also close to Suwon KT Wiz Park and the Jangan-gu Office, so it's easy to get to, and the interior is kept very hygienic and clean, so the whole family, from kids to grandparents, can eat with peace of mind 👍🏻👍🏻

They say the fish is grilled at over 500℃ in a wood-fired oven to bring out its natural flavor, and seasoned with salt that's been drained of bitterness for over 10 years, giving it a premium, savory taste that isn't salty!

We ordered one portion of the wood-fired mackerel set and one wood-fired sea eel set ~! (I seriously considered the crab marinated in soy sauce set too, but since this place specializes in grilled fish, I went with grilled fish for my first visit haha)

The wood-fired mackerel comes straight out of the 500℃ oven with the crispy-outside, tender-inside texture fully intact ~ The subtle smoky aroma paired with the light, savory flavor made it impossible to stop eating with rice!!! 😋

The sea eel was grilled to a nice golden brown, and the texture and deep umami flavor were so good — it really felt like a proper Korean-style health boost 🤤👍🏻

What is on the unlimited self-serve bar?

Another great thing about Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch is its generous, hygienic self-serve bar🫶🏻 There were so many different Korean side dishes! I got excited and piled my plate high haha

Black sesame lotus root salad, chonggak kimchi (young radish kimchi), deodeok (mountain root) salad, crunchy cucumber peppers, and refreshing seaweed soup are set out as basics, and you can freely take more from the self-serve bar. You can even scoop your own ingredients there to make a fresh bibimbap! (They even have sesame oil and perilla oil, so it's seriously delicious ,,)

There's also warm japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fried snacks, and sausage pancake, which made everything feel even more filling just looking at it. And to finish things off, there's plum tea and iced tea on the self-serve bar for a refreshing end to the meal!
