I stopped by Modam Urban at Yeouido IFC Mall for Korean food that reinterprets Korean tradition with a modern touch.

This place is known as one of the good ones in Yeongdeungpo. It’s a Yeouido Korean set-menu spot for gatherings, dates, and get-togethers.

It feels almost like a modern dining restaurant, with ivory and wood tones thoughtfully blended together.

They offer a variety of fusion dishes, and when you order, six appetizers, multigrain rice, soup, and side dishes are served together.

There are Korean set-course menus too, making it great for family introductions or gatherings. We simply went for a delicious meal because we were hungry. To keep things casual, we ordered today’s rice pot, handmade tteokgalbi, and grilled abalone from the main menu.

The plating on the table felt upscale.

A beautifully composed set of six appetizers

There was plenty of variety, and these were not the things we eat every day—the composition felt really refined.

The mung bean porridge topped with black sesame was soft and so tasty. The food arrived beautifully presented and delicious.

The perilla-oil capellini combines the fragrance of perilla leaves with seaweed and egg garnish, plus the sweetness of raw shrimp.

The pressed mushroom meat and truffle chamnamul greens salad were delicious together, with plenty of pleasant chewiness.

The flavor of the mushroom-filled pressed meat worked wonderfully with the greens.

The salad topped with kabocha squash was made even brighter by its tangy dressing.

The chilled smoked-duck salad paired crunchy vegetables beautifully with the smoked duck.

The spicy mushroom gangjeong had a crisp coating soaked through with deeply flavored sweet-spicy sauce, meeting the soft mushroom inside and bringing so much pleasure to every bite.

It was perfect for chatting away while eating. It’s nice to be able to sample a little of everything.

A generous parade of main dishes

Then came the mains: rice pot, tteokgalbi (Korean grilled beef patties), and grilled abalone.

The mains arrived together, generous and neat, and they kept lifting my mood. The watery napa-cabbage kimchi and stir-fried kimchi tasted clean and refined too.

Since someone else made it for us, and it was so neatly prepared with clean flavors, it got a big thumbs-up. The fluffy rice and rice pot felt full of nourishment and goodness.

There were two tteokgalbi, so it was surprisingly filling. There was one abalone, but it was cut into easy-to-eat pieces, which was nice. The fried kelp bugak (crispy seaweed snack) also let us enjoy both the beauty and crunch of Korean food.

We enjoyed this elevated Korean cuisine as a course, really getting a taste of upscale dining.

The rice pot was generously filled with mushrooms and meat, making every mouthful a joyful texture. Every dish that came out tasted good.

The tangy kimchi broth felt rich in probiotics somehow, and it seemed easy to digest. One bite felt filling while also making my gut feel healthier. The stir-fried kimchi went well with it too.

The grilled abalone, prepared into bite-size pieces by a staff member, disappeared happily as soon as it went into my mouth. The Korean menu at Yeouido IFC Mall is really good here, and it’s a great restaurant for family-introduction gatherings.

We finished the meal with pudding.

In an upscale atmosphere, we enjoyed a Korean course meal full of delightful flavors and textures. Beginning with six dishes and continuing with tteokgalbi, grilled abalone, and today’s rice pot, it made the day feel even more special. If you are nearby, do try this special-tasting place.
