Sealed-bag snack takeout to a Han River bench, Yeouido: Hyeonseonine

In short

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and Korean snack restaurant on basement level 2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, linked underground to The Hyundai Seoul and Yeouido Station. The Hyeonseoni Combo Set (25,000 won) of tteokbokki, assorted fried snacks, sundae (blood sausage), mini gimbap and odeng (fish cake) was sealed tightly in a paper shopping bag, so not a drop of broth leaked and the fried snacks stayed crisp on the walk to a bench in Yeouido Hangang Park. For a Han River picnic spread, Hyeonseonine is a no-fail choice.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch in Yeouido?

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a tteokbokki and snack restaurant on B2 of IFC Mall, 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Hours are Mon–Fri 11:00–21:00, Sat–Sun 12:00–21:00, with last order at 21:40.

The weather's getting cooler, and so many people are out walking Yeouido Hangang Park or shopping at The Hyundai Seoul these days, right? Chicken or convenience store ramyeon are fine for a Han River picnic, but Korea's eternal soul food combo has to be spicy-sweet snacks.

Starting out as one of Seoul's top three tteokbokki spots and now winning over Yeouido office workers and day-trippers alike — I went to the IFC branch of Hyeonseonine.

Hyeonseonine's IFC branch sits underground in Yeouido IFC Mall. It connects directly to The Hyundai Seoul and Yeouido Station via underground passage, so the access is really excellent. Even in cold or hot weather, you can move around indoors comfortably.

What comes in the 25,000-won Hyeonseoni Combo Set?

The menu at Hyeonseonine's IFC branch is packed — tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage), assorted fried snacks, mini gimbap, and all kinds of set menus. The tabletop, cook-it-yourself tteokbokki is popular too, but today my mission was an outdoor Han River picnic!

We ordered the Hyeonseoni Combo Set (₩25,000), the Avengers lineup of snacks in one go. The set includes tteokbokki + assorted fried snacks + sundae + mini gimbap + odeng (fish cake).

Inside Hyeonseonine: seating and the self-serve bar

Step inside Hyeonseonine's IFC branch and there's none of the usual snack-shop clutter — the space is very clean and well kept. There's a generous mix of small tables for solo diners and bigger tables for groups.

There are tables outside the store too. They're shared with the convenience store right next door, but they're well maintained and really tidy.

At the self-serve bar you'll find sweet-and-sour danmuji (pickled radish) and clean utensils. On the wall hang black-and-white photo frames chronicling Hyeonseonine's history, which are fun to look at. They're also running a generous event where a receipt review gets you a free fried tteok or a savory mayo rice ball — don't miss it!

How well does the takeout travel to Yeouido Hangang Park?

The Hyeonseoni Combo Set came sealed carefully inside a sturdy paper shopping bag printed with a cute character. No food smell or broth leaked out at all, so it was very easy to carry on the walk to Hangang Park.

We took the packed food straight to Yeouido Hangang Park.

With the open river breeze blowing, we spread the whole snack spread out on an outdoor bench haha.

How do the tteokbokki and assorted fried snacks taste?

The moment we opened the container, that spicy-sweet tteokbokki smell burst out. The rice cakes are soft wheat tteok, fully soaked in sauce. One bite and the chewy texture is right there. The sauce isn't heavy or dull — it's clean with real savoriness, so I ended up spooning up the broth too, haha.

The golden-fried kimmari (seaweed rice noodle rolls), yakimandu (fried dumplings), and vegetable fritters were all sliced into bite-sized pieces. Even after cooling slightly from being packed, they stayed crisp instead of going soggy — genuinely surprised. Dipping the fried snacks into the spicy tteokbokki sauce was an absolutely perfect combo!

The sundae and mini gimbap in the combo set

The sundae in this combo set was genuinely impressive too. It's not just plain sundae — they load it generously with savory liver and chewy lung and other innards. The sundae is nice and chewy, the innards have no off-odor and taste clean, perfect dipped lightly in salt or tossed in the tteokbokki sauce.

Four rolls of mini gimbap, glossy with sesame oil and dusted with nutty sesame seeds! Simple fillings — danmuji, ham, imitation crab — but done right, so I kept reaching for more. A bite of spicy tteokbokki followed by a piece of gimbap tames the heat while keeping you full.

Is Hyeonseonine worth it for a Han River picnic?

Hyeonseonine's IFC branch sits inside a clean mall, so it's a great stop if you get hungry while browsing The Hyundai Seoul or IFC Mall, and just as great packed up for a Han River picnic on a nice day. If you're craving a no-fail spicy tteokbokki and a hearty snack spread in Yeouido, I strongly recommend Hyeonseonine's IFC branch!
