It's here, it's here, my beef gopchang transfusion time is here~ Today I visited a Guro favorite with old-school vibes that grills the gopchang (beef intestine skewers) for you: Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch.

Where is Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui, and where do you park?

Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch is near Exit 1 of Daerim Station. It's close to the station so it's easy to get to, and it's on the main road so it's easy to find.

There's no dedicated parking lot for the restaurant, but they do support parking costs. We used the Guro-ri Park underground public parking lot listed on the place info, and when we mentioned it at checkout, they gave us 2,000 won in cash haha. Since parking is 1,800 won an hour, that's basically an hour of free parking.

Inside Gimga-ne: old-school room with open-air seats

The interior of Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch was packed with old-school charm. The outside is open, so it's perfect for enjoying that open-air seating vibe in this cool weather these days.

There were round tables and floor seating too. Seeing lots of people around my parents' age along with a wide range of ages, it really seemed like a true local gopchang favorite in Guro.

In the kitchen, staff were busy cooking, and there wasn't an empty seat in sight — buzzing and lively haha.

The menu and the Hangang ramyeon machine

At Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch, you can order gopchang, makchang, and daechang individually, and there's also a mixed set for people like me who want to try a variety.

There was Hangang ramyeon on the menu, and the restaurant actually has a real Hangang ramyeon machine haha. You cook it yourself, apparently.

Write a Naver review and get a free soju, beer, or Hangang ramyeon! Soju is a must when eating gopchang in Guro (in my opinion), so since you're drinking anyway, might as well order it free ><

Side dishes and the two dipping sauces

First they set up the basic side dishes, which were generous — vegetables, dongchimi (radish water kimchi), and even raw liver and beef tripe. The plump raw liver looked perfect with soju, but I had two bouts of food poisoning this summer so I was too scared to eat it haha.

There were also two dipping sauces — seeing the seasoned sauce on the left with chopped chili in it, I could tell this place knows its stuff haha.

Mixed gopchang, 25,000 won: grilled and cut in the kitchen

We ordered mixed gopchang (25,000 won) x 2. Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch uses domestic beef cattle and follows a strict three-step washing process to nail both texture and cleanliness, they say.

It took a bit of time from ordering to serving, but they brought it out already cooked and cut in the kitchen. Have you ever seen such perfect service at a Guro gopchang restaurant!!

No fuss with tongs to grill it yourself, no need to cut it with scissors — you just eat, so it was SO convenient! They kept the flame on under the grill so we could enjoy it hot the whole time haha.

I'm a real chive lover, and they piled the chives up like a mountain, which made me so happy. There was also enoki mushroom under the potatoes and chives.

Look at that oil bubbling away. This is the most exciting moment when eating gopchang in Guro: watching the vegetables fry in the oil.

A varied mixed set where you can enjoy gopchang, daechang, makchang, and heart all together! The menu info says beolyang goes in instead of makchang, but from what I actually ate, I think today they gave us makchang haha.

Mixed set of gopchang, daechang, makchang, and heart

Start with the heart, then the chives

You know you're supposed to eat the heart first when having gopchang in Guro, right? It gets tough if you cook it too long, so heart absolutely goes first! But wow, the heart here is so good. Not tough at all, it just melts in your mouth like eating beef.

And the chives are truly the kicker. The seasoning is slightly spicy, so it cuts through the richness perfectly — a match made in heaven!

Makchang, gopchang and daechang: how each one tastes

The makchang is chewy with some fat but feels clean. The more you chew, the more the savory flavor spreads.

It's light yet savory, and dipping it in the oil sauce maximizes the umami!

A piece of gopchang dipped in oil sauce

The gopchang is plump and packed full of fat, giving it a rich, savory flavor that automatically calls for soju. Not the slightest bit greasy and no gamey smell at all — so good.

The daechang was so thick it looked like the insides might burst out haha. Plump, soft, and juicy — the texture alone is insane.

Cross-section of thick grilled daechang

Put one chili on top and you get a salty, savory umami with a bit of spice added — completely addictive. Every bite releases a burst of savory fat that really gets the dopamine flowing.

Finish with kimchi fried rice, 3,000 won

The kimchi fried rice (3,000 won) comes to your grill when you order it, and you fry it yourself. Today too, I channeled my inner staff member and mixed it up diligently haha.

Finished kimchi fried rice topped with seaweed flakes

I expected a bright red look since it's called kimchi fried rice, but it was surprisingly mild, with the seaweed flakes adding the saltiness. I like strong seasoning so I sprinkled on some of the gopchang sauce, and it was excellent haha.

Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch — an old-school-vibe, truly local Guro gopchang favorite full of neighborhood regulars. Having everything grilled and ready in the kitchen made the whole meal so easy. Next time I definitely have to try the Hangang ramyeon haha.
