In short

Where is Woosang Hwarogui near Maebong Station, and is there parking?

Woosang Hwarogui is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant located on the ground floor at 26 Nonhyeon-ro 34-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's open weekdays 11:00–22:00 and Saturdays 15:00–22:00, with a break time weekdays from 15:00–17:00, last order at 21:00, and closed every Sunday. It's on the ground floor so it's easy to spot right away 👀 You know that annoying thing where you have to scope out public parking before you even book if a place doesn't have parking — but here, about 5 spots are available right in front!

What is Woosang Hwarogui like in the evening?

At the Woosang Hwarogui Maebong Station branch, the lighting isn't too bright — it's soft and mellow, so visiting in the evening made the atmosphere even nicer. Instead of the loud, bustling BBQ-joint feel, it was a comfortable vibe for chatting while you eat 🤍

Is the semi-curtain room a good seat for a date?

Seating at the Woosang Hwarogui Maebong Station branch is divided into private rooms for 3–4, private rooms for 5–6, semi-curtain rooms for 2–4, hall seating for 2–4, and hall seating for 4–6. Even on a weekday, the place was packed — how does everyone always know where the good places are? I like talking while I eat, so I booked a semi-curtain room.

Private semi-curtain room seating

Even without drawing the curtain, the space is separated enough that it felt really private — I loved it, haha! If it's a date, I'd recommend the semi-curtain room. Perfect for quietly enjoying good food.

Free corkage: can you bring your own wine?

Woosang Hwarogui Maebong Station branch offers truly, truly precious free corkage 🤍🤍🤍

Wine we brought and the wine glasses provided

A wine 🍷💗 we bought on a recommendation from the nearby Wine Moment. We hadn't mentioned it, but as soon as they saw the wine, they brought over wine glasses right away. Such a thoughtful touch.

What comes in the sang set, and in what grilling order?

My boyfriend wanted to order the tongue set because he was craving beef tongue, but it was sold out that day, so we ordered the sampler set instead 🥹

A plate of raw beef from the Woosang Hwarogui sampler set

On the Naver menu, the sampler set is listed as chamjinsal + LA jingalbi + gadakgalbi + assorted grilled vegetables, but as of 9/17 it came out as chamjinsal + angeomisal + gadakgalbi + assorted grilled vegetables, with LA jingalbi swapped for angeomisal.

The owner's tips for eating each cut deliciously!!

  • Eat in order: chamjinsal > angeomisal > gadakgalbi
  • Chamjinsal and angeomisal: medium rare
  • Gadakgalbi: medium well done

They told us the eating order and even the grilling doneness for each cut, which let us enjoy the meat even more 🥹

The meat was genuinely, genuinely, genuinely, genuinely delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Eating in order, the texture got chewier and chewier, and we kept gasping 'wow, this is amazing' the whole time as we devoured it haha ㅋㅋㅋㅎㅎㅎㅎ

Doenjang sulbap with chadol brisket
Inside of the doenjang sulbap packed with tofu and vegetables

Doenjang sulbap and egg yolk soy sauce rice

The doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) was seriously delicious. It had a good amount of chadol (brisket) in it, plus plenty of tofu and vegetables — how is everything here this good, ㅠ

Egg yolk soy sauce rice received as a reservation perk

If you turn on notifications and book a reservation, they give you free egg yolk soy sauce rice — I know it sounds like I keep saying everything's delicious, but how could egg-and-soy-sauce rice not be good? Actually, I forgot this perk existed and ordered the doenjang sulbap instead, but if I could go back, I'd order the egg yolk rice, doenjang jjigae, and naengmyeon (cold noodles). We ate so much rice we were too full to order more, and that's super regrettable ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Dessert ice cream topped with pepper and olive oil

Ice cream to finish the meal

There's even dessert at the end. If this isn't value for money, what is? Ice cream for dessert? The owner clearly knows what they're doing — they sprinkle pepper, salt, and olive oil on top of the ice cream 🍨🤍

Both my boyfriend and I were so satisfied. From the warm hand towels to the final ice cream — and it's delicious the whole way through. This was a Maebong Station find I'd recommend to friends and want to revisit, and we left really happily satisfied 🍽️🤍
