Seafood pub near Sinsa Station: haenyeo box for two, Parang Haenyeojip

Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store is a seafood pub at the entrance to Garosugil in Gangnam, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Sinsa Station. One Haenyeo Box (6.0) with a glass of cheongha (a clear rice liquor) brought steamed conch, sea squirt and abalone, halibut, salmon and sea bass sashimi, steamed clams and futomaki, and the seaweed soup served with it was refillable. Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store, where you can taste all kinds of seafood dishes. I went to check it out — a spot near Sinsa Station that's perfect for a drink alongside fresh, ocean-scented seafood right in the middle of the city.
I'd been looking forward to this visit, hearing you could properly enjoy seafood dishes as fresh as if the haenyeo (female sea divers) had just pulled them out of the water. The moment I walked in, the clean, pleasant space and the fresh ingredients on display made me trust the place right away. Here's my review of Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store, where I happily emptied my glass over clean, non-fishy seafood snacks!

- By subway: from Sinsa Station Exit 8, go straight for a 5-minute walk. Turn left at the entrance to Garosugil and walk about 100m more
- By bus: get off at the Sinsa Station stop, 5–7 minute walk
There's a menu board outside the shop too. Since it's a place with waiting lines, picking your order while you wait seems like a good idea.
You can book a table either through Naver Reservation or by phone.
The number of tables seemed about right, and behind them there's a projector showing the sea in the background — honestly a surprisingly impressive bit of interior design.

When you're drinking, a soup or stew is a must, right?
You can also order single seafood dishes à la carte, plus there were fried items and cheese-grilled dishes.

What do you all think pairs well with seafood? White wine?
For me, it's cheongha. Take a bite of sashimi, then a shot of cheongha — it washes away the oiliness of the fish and hits restart. (Wow, I sound like such a drinker.)
Side dishes and free seaweed soup refills
What comes as basic sides: seaweed stems, and a chewy seaweed dish (what's that even called...?), plus seaweed soup — which was surprisingly refreshing and tasty. The seaweed soup is refillable!
What's in the Haenyeo Box (6.0) and is it enough for two?
Since I went for dinner this time, what I ordered at Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store was the Haenyeo Box (6.0).
The Haenyeo Box (6.0). I ordered it because I wanted to try a variety of seafood! It seems to be a popular item — quite a few tables around me were having it too.
It came with seafood like steamed conch, sea squirt, and abalone, plus halibut, salmon, and sea bass sashimi, and steamed clams too, so it was fun to pick and choose. Personally though, I think it would be a bit lacking as a full meal for three or more people.
There was also a hearty futomaki (thick seaweed rice roll), so it worked great as an actual meal too.
The steamed conch stood out for its chewy texture.
It had been a really long time since I'd had sea squirt...
They said a Catchtable or Naver receipt review gets you a bottle of beer or soju, so pair one with your seafood!
Final verdict: who should book Parang Haenyeojip
The natural sweetness of the ingredients and the umami of the sea came through fully, and I finished every last bite cleanly without ever feeling sick of it — that was Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store. Even though it's near Sinsa Station, the space wasn't crowded, the tables were well arranged, and it was a great spot to have a relaxed conversation over drinks.
If you're looking for a truly fresh seafood spot near Sinsa Station or Garosugil, or thinking about a gathering place after work for good snacks with a clean glass of soju, I recommend Parang Haenyeojip Sinsa Direct Store.
