Goyang Chinese restaurant with free rice refills: Jjamppong Jijeon

Today I visited Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch, a great Seooreung spot known for its wonderfully spicy, deeply flavorful broth. If you love jjamppong, you have probably heard of Jjamppong Jijeon at least once. Once I visited myself, I immediately understood why it has a reputation as both a Goyang favorite and a go-to place for jjamppong. Let me share a visit that was perfect from the food to the amenities!

No parking worries with the spacious lot

When you go out to eat, a cramped parking area can make things stressful from the very beginning, right? Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch has a genuinely spacious parking area right in front, so you can visit comfortably without worrying about parking. It is a huge plus for anyone arriving by car.

Thoughtful amenities, from children’s needs to the self-service bar

Once inside, I noticed thoughtful touches for families everywhere. Clean children’s chairs and dedicated tableware are available for guests dining with little ones. It is a Goyang restaurant where coming with children feels easy.

Unlimited rice at the self-service bar

One of Jjamppong Jijeon’s biggest strengths is its generous self-service bar! Along with scissors, tongs, onions, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and danmuji (pickled yellow radish), it even offers unlimited rice. After finishing the jjamppong noodles, you can mix rice into the remaining broth, so big eaters will leave very satisfied.

From hair ties to disposable aprons

While looking around the self-service area, I found a detail that truly impressed me: hair ties for guests with long hair to dine comfortably! They were not the usual thin yellow elastics, either—they were sturdy, strong ties individually wrapped for single use. There are also clean disposable aprons and a full drinks corner for freshening up after the meal, with coffee, omija/plum juice, iced tea, and lemonade.

How were the dishes we ordered?

Crispy outside, juicy inside fried dumplings at their best

Now for the main dishes! The fried dumplings arrived first, wonderfully crisp outside and packed with meat and vegetables inside. They were already perfectly seasoned with a savory saltiness, so they were nutty and delicious even without soy sauce or another dip. Definitely order them as a side!

Jjajangmyeon with generous chunks of potato

The jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) came next, and the seasoning in the sauce was so spot-on that I was impressed from the first bite. In particular, it had large-cut potatoes that gave it such a nice texture. The sauce clung beautifully to the noodles, making it a flavor everyone, young or old, would enjoy.

Glutinous tangsuyuk served with sweet potato

We also ordered glutinous tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), an essential at a Chinese restaurant! It had that familiar deliciously chewy and crisp tangsuyuk texture, but uniquely, it came with sweet potato too. The sweetness of the sweet potato went surprisingly well with the chewiness of the tangsuyuk, and the portion was much bigger than I expected, so I ate until I was full.

I completely recommend the signature jjamppong★

Every dish was delicious, but I completely, absolutely recommend the jjamppong!!! From the first spoonful of broth, I could taste its deep, rich umami—it really earned its reputation as a famous jjamppong spot. It is generously loaded with seafood and meat, making the broth hearty, while the noodles are chewy too. After finishing the noodles, it would be so good to add rice from the self-service bar and finish with jjamppong rice.

With its spacious dedicated parking lot, children’s chairs and tableware, individually wrapped hair ties, and disposable aprons, plus an unlimited rice-and-side-dish self-service bar and post-meal drinks corner, it has everything covered.
