Gangnam Station dinner of brisket perilla pasta and steak: Eulji Darak

In short

Eulji Darak Gangnam Station is a Western and pasta restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near the food alley by exits 11 and 12 of Gangnam Station in Seoul. After work, the writer and her younger sibling ordered the chap-mokssal steak (pork neck steak, 24,000 won) and the cha-dolbagi deulkkae pasta (beef brisket and perilla seed pasta, 19,000 won) and cleaned both plates, enjoying the steak dipped in mashed potato and the way perilla seeds and perilla leaves cut the richness of the brisket. Quiet enough for conversation, Eulji Darak Gangnam Station suits a date, a blind date, or a wedding-invitation dinner near Gangnam Station.

Today I had dinner in Gangnam with my sister after work. I'd been wanting to go to Eulji Darak, so we finally made a return visit. Even after all this time, it was still just as good! Let me walk you through what we ordered and how it went.

Entrance wall at Eulji Darak with a sign saying 'not a door'

At first I thought this was the door and fumbled around trying to open it. It literally says 'not a door' on it, but I figured that was just a joke and kept hunting for a button anyway..

My sister pressed the elevator button next to it and I was like, hey! That's the elevator! — and then the actual shop door opened, which threw me off. Turns out the elevator on the left was the real door. Felt like an escape room, so fun 🥲

Inside Eulji Darak: is it a good blind date spot near Gangnam Station?

The inside of Eulji Darak Gangnam Station was clean and pretty, with a waiting area built into the restaurant for peak-time lines. It felt quiet enough that I thought it'd work well as a Gangnam Station date spot, a wedding-invitation gathering, or a blind date venue!

Since this place does get a wait during peak hours, there's a waiting area inside. Even the restroom entrance was hidden like a wardrobe door. So cool and quirky.

The restaurant's vibe was clean and pretty. It was quiet enough and comfortable for a proper meal, so I thought it'd be great for a Gangnam Station date, a wedding-invitation gathering, or a blind date. And I'm not exaggerating — the tables on either side of us actually had one group there for a wedding-invitation meetup and another on what looked like a blind date.

The self-service station had water, aprons, napkins, and wet wipes.

The tableware they set out for us, plus a handbell. Instead of a call button, you ring a little bell and a staff member comes over. Kind of a charming touch..

Menu and prices: pork neck steak and brisket perilla pasta

Eulji Darak's signature dishes are the darak omurice (omelet rice) and katsu sando, but I'd tried both before, so this time we ordered chap-mokssal steak (₩24,000) and cha-dolbagi perilla pasta (₩19,000). Apparently if you leave a Naver receipt review or Google Maps review, you get a free drink too ><

Here's the menu and prices at Eulji Darak! The darak omurice and katsu sando are the most famous signature dishes, but since I'd already had both, I decided to try something new today. This time we went with the chap-mokssal steak and the cha-dolbagi perilla pasta.

We also each ordered a can of zero-sugar cola.

Two Western dishes shared between two people

On the way there, my sister and I were worried — we won't be able to finish two dishes, what if there's a ton left over...? We were seriously stressing about wasting food. Well... embarrassingly enough, the two of us finished every last bite.

The chap-mokssal steak came with grilled vegetables and mashed potato, and dipping the meat straight into the mashed potato was genuinely delicious. We also ate the wasabi and grilled vegetables that came alongside — great combo, great flavor.

The cha-dolbagi perilla pasta was a combination I'd never seen before, but it looked like it'd be tasty so I ordered it. It came piled high with perilla leaves and seeds, and we popped the egg yolk and mixed it all together.

The perilla leaf and seed aroma was fragrant and lovely. Beef brisket (cha-dolbagi) can easily get too rich, but the perilla completely balanced it out — the pairing worked really well.

Snapped some photos with the flash on. We took plenty of pictures and wrapped up a nice dinner together.

Final verdict on dinner at Eulji Darak Gangnam Station

It had been a while since I last visited Eulji Darak Gangnam Station, and it was every bit as delicious as I remembered! The atmosphere is clean and pretty too, so if you're looking for a nice-vibe pasta restaurant, I'd recommend Eulji Darak. It's also a great pick for a Gangnam Station date or a Gangnam Station blind date.
