Nowon sushi buffet with 10,000-won corkage and smoked duck: Kuu Kuu

I used to go to Kuu Kuu a lot whenever I wanted to eat all the sushi I could handle. The one near my neighborhood closed a while back, so I'd been really craving it haha. Sushi, sashimi, various meats, hot food, and desserts all in one place — here's my review of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch!

Where is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, and how do parking and corkage work?

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is on the 6th floor of 247 Nowon-ro, Nowon-gu, Seoul, open daily from 11:00 to 21:30. You can park at the Seoul Oncheon Building parking lot, with up to 2 hours free when you eat there. Just keep in mind the lot can get crowded on weekends or holidays since it's a popular spot!

Inside the 300-pyeong hall: group tables and the kids' space

There's a waiting area right at the front of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch. Inside, it's clean and cozy with natural wood tones and white finishes. The space is huge with plenty of seating, and some areas are partitioned off for a more private feel. With over 300 pyeong of space including a dedicated group hall, it looked like a great spot for family meals as well as company dinners or gatherings — the group hall was actually in use during my visit.

There's also a kids' space for anyone visiting with children!

Now for the fun part — the food!

Norwegian raw salmon sashimi, served only at the Nowon branch

The menu that really caught my eye was the Norwegian raw salmon sashimi! Apparently it's not even offered at the Kuu Kuu Gold branch. Raw salmon sashimi is available for weekday dinner and on weekends and holidays, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.

Bigger flounder and salmon sushi, plus the new smoked duck

Sushi is the whole point of Kuu Kuu, right? The flounder and salmon sushi have been upsized this time. The fish pieces are now bigger, so you really feel the presence of the fish with every bite.

There are also plenty of meat options besides sushi. Smoked duck is a new addition, and since it was new I had to try it — it was tender and clean-tasting!

Cumin lamb chops, the other new menu item

I tried lamb skewers once and they weren't for me, so I usually avoid lamb, but I was curious about the lamb chops haha. Since they're a new menu item too, I gave them a try! They were coated in cumin, and turned out tender and pretty good. Went great with beer haha.

En croûte soup, pizza and fried dishes at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch

There's also en croute soup and pizza, plus various fried foods.

They had waffles too, but I was way too full to try one haha.

I sampled a little of everything and focused on what I liked most. Ended up eating a ton of salmon sashimi and sushi haha. The salmon sashimi is cut nice and thick, so it has a really satisfying chew.

Since there's rice involved, I got super full while eating. But I still couldn't give up sushi haha.

Made-to-order jjamppong and the dessert corner

There's a made-to-order menu too, and I went with jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). It had quite a lot of seafood in it. Since it's a spicy broth, it actually paired really well with sushi.

A buffet always ends with dessert. There's bead ice cream that kids love — the milk chocolate flavor was delicious. Even though I was full, I still tried a bit of chocolate fondue. Plenty of dessert options kids would enjoy.

There's also a good variety of fruit. I ate a ton of pineapple to help digest everything haha. It had been a while since I'd visited Kuu Kuu, and I ate until I nearly burst. The space is especially spacious and clean, making it great for family meals as well as group gatherings or company dinners!
