Nowon sushi buffet papaya slushie and fresh salmon sushi: Kuu Kuu

Life's been busy, so my Kuu Kuu cooldown finally expired and I met up with my sister after a long time for a trip to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch! Since it's a franchise, quality varies by branch, but Nowon was the best one I've been to 😋

Parking and time limit at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch

If you park at the Seoul Onchun Building, Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch gives you 2 hours free. When it's full, you can use a nearby paid lot on your own.

The 300-pyeong dining room and group tables

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is about 300 pyeong, so it felt spacious and comfortable. The moment you walk in, the bright, relaxed atmosphere really won me over. It was clean too, so it felt hygienic! In particular, the group seating is well set up, so I'd strongly recommend it for family or group gatherings.

After settling in, we headed to the food counters — at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, the sushi lineup literally starts right at the entrance and never ends. Seeing all that food piled up got my appetite going instantly 😋

What sushi is on the upgraded lineup?

Looking at the food selection at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, there were a lot of newly upgraded items this time!

• 🍣 Upgraded flounder & salmon sushi: made bigger than before so your mouth gets filled with flounder and salmon.
• 🍣 Upgraded shrimp sushi: now using botan shrimp, upgraded so you can really taste the deep sweetness and flavor unique to shrimp!

Besides that, there was beef sushi, eel sushi, sushi, roll sushi and way more than what's in the photos. Plus cockle bibimbap, soy sauce shrimp, and soy sauce crab ㅠㅠ Writing this is making me want to eat it all again! If you think buffet sushi means low quality, that's a huge misconception — it was as good as a proper specialty restaurant 👍🏻

The sashimi was frozen, but it had none of that typical frozen-sashimi fishy smell. Dipped in vinegar-chili sauce, it was so delicious ❤️

Doing a full lap past the fried food and Western dishes to plan out your eating order is basically mandatory 😋

First plate: sushi and seafood

Since I'd heard Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is especially good for sushi, my first plate was mostly sushi and seafood.

And sure enough! It didn't disappoint at all, it was so good ❤️ What made me feel Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a cut above is that it had none of that fishy smell typical of buffet sushi. Even as a buffet, the quality rivaled a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, and I was genuinely amazed while eating.

My favorite of the day was this fresh salmon sushi 🧡 The moment it hits your mouth, the salmon just melts away softly. You absolutely have to try the fresh salmon sushi!

Second plate: Chinese dishes, Western dishes and butter corn

Finished off the first plate happily, on to round two 😋 They even had Encourt soup, famous for its hotel-style soups.

There's pizza and pasta too, and personally I'd recommend the gorgonzola pizza and the cream pasta 👍🏻 The cream pasta especially wasn't greasy and had a nutty flavor that was really good.

There's samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and mala tang too! The food lineup is no joke 😆 Kuu Kuu really is the best value for money!

There are also 4 slushie flavors, so right when your palate starts to get a bit tired, a cool slushie resets everything and you can dig back in hahaha. The papaya flavor is the tastiest!

For the second plate I loaded up on Chinese and Western food too. And there's one more dish I strongly recommend,

It's this butter corn ㅠㅠ Super sweet corn with a magic powder sprinkled on it — the perfect combo of sweet, nutty and salty! You have to try it. So good!

Marble ice cream, served at weekday lunch too

The marble ice cream at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch used to only be served at weekday dinner or on weekends, but apparently it's been upgraded so it's now available at weekday lunch too!

✔️ 4 marble ice cream flavors: milk chocolate, strawberry sorbet, banana split, rainbow. Getting to scoop as much as I wanted without any guilt, when it's usually so pricey outside, made me so happy 🥹 I love Kuu Kuu

After thoroughly demolishing Korean, Chinese, and Western food, I made sure to properly cover dessert time too 😋 Besides ice cream, the fruit, cake, and coffee were all excellent, so I finished off the very last bite happily!

Verdict: a Nowon sushi buffet built for family gatherings

A spacious, comfortable dining room, jaw-droppingly fresh sushi and menu items, and unlimited free draft beer on top of it all! Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is bound to hit the spot for every taste in the family. Definitely pay a visit with your family for a satisfying, happy full-belly experience!
