Ansan Gojan-dong donkatsu: jumbo demiglace cutlet at Gin Jaryoko

In short

Gin Jaryoko Ansan Gojan Branch is a Western-style pork cutlet (donkatsu) restaurant on Gwangdeokseo-ro in Gojan-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi. Stopping in with a 5-year-old on the way to a kids' café in Seonbu-dong, the writer sized the jumbo demiglace pork cutlet up to 1.5x and added gyudon (beef rice bowl) and a croquette, and the plate arrived with six palm-sized cutlets. Even at a bar table the child sat still and cleaned the plate, so Gin Jaryoko is an easy lunch pick with kids — just remember there is no parking lot.

Gojan-dong pork cutlet on the way to a Seonbu-dong kids' café

I had lunch with my kid at Gin Jaryoko, a well-known pork cutlet spot in Gojan-dong, Ansan. My daughter has a kids' café in Seonbu-dong that she absolutely loves. She's really into dancing, and at Jungle Panpan they do a dance party with the animal characters every single hour — my daughter goes nuts for it!! Last weekend we planned another Seonbu-dong kids' café trip, and stopped for lunch at this Gojan-dong pork cutlet place along the way!

The place I went for lunch with my kid is Gin Jaryoko, a pork cutlet favorite in Gojan-dong, Ansan! If you're into pork cutlet around here, doesn't everyone already know this place?! Generous portions, really tasty. The one downside is parking — there's no lot in the building, so you just have to find a spot in a nearby public lot or on the street haha.

The menu: pork cutlets plus udon, rice bowls and curry

This Gojan-dong favorite has more than just pork cutlet — udon, rice bowls, curry, a whole range — great for a group wanting to try different things. The udon lineup is distinctive too, with rosé udon, cream udon, tteumbadang udon, and more!

Can a 5-year-old sit at Gin Jaryoko's bar table?

One distinctive thing about this Gojan-dong lunch spot is that all the seating is bar-table style! My daughter is 5 now, and she came here at age 4 too — she sat quietly at the bar table just fine! It's always packed for lunch.

Kiosk prepayment and the review-event drink

Ordering here is via kiosk — you prepay, then take your seat. By the way, they give you a drink for participating in the review event!! You end up craving something fizzy anyway once you're deep into the pork cutlet haha.

Jumbo demiglace pork cutlet at 1.5x: six cutlets on one plate

I ordered the jumbo demiglace pork cutlet along with gyudon and croquette. I sized the jumbo demiglace up to 1.5x, and it came out with six palm-sized cutlets. The portion is genuinely massive — unless you're a big eater like me, don't attempt it lol.

If you're after a pork cutlet spot in Gojan-dong, Ansan, you really have to try Gin Jaryoko. This is the ultimate Western-style pork cutlet. The special demiglace sauce is incredibly good, and the cutlet is fried in good oil so even served bukkake-style (sauce poured over) it's genuinely crispy, with thick, juicy meat! It's less Japanese tonkatsu-style and more old-school Western pork cutlet — crispy and absolutely delicious!!

Thin, crispy breading with pork that's packed with juice! The meat is genuinely thick but stays juicy and moist. My daughter really loves the pork cutlet here! The food is so good that even a 5-year-old sits quietly at the bar table!

The demiglace sauce that won over a dipping-sauce fan

I usually prefer crispy fried stuff and like to dip my sauce on the side, but here, even served pre-sauced, it's so good. Even with the sauce already on, the breading stays crispy and the demiglace sauce is the highlight. The sauce genuinely tastes different from anywhere else — so good! Add a little wasabi on the side and it's even better!! In the end I ordered the jumbo size and finished the whole thing haha.

Order the jumbo and the rice comes with a poached egg

Recommended for a Gojan-dong lunch! The rice comes topped with a poached egg. Pretty impressive, right?! Last time I ordered the regular pork cutlet, the rice came plain, but with the jumbo size you get the poached egg on top. I mixed it into the rice for my kid and she ate it right up!

Gyudon, the dish the 5-year-old ate most of

Recommended for lunch with kids in Gojan-dong. Last time I visited I had cream udon pasta and gyudon, and my daughter really wolfed down the gyudon. So I ordered it again this time! Honestly, once you try Gin Jaryoko you can't help but come back and reorder. So good! Lots of meat, a slightly sweet sauce, soft-boiled egg, and beef — generous as always.

The gyudon portion is genuinely generous too. This is a place where every menu item gets a free 1.5x portion increase. Even ordering it at the regular size, the portion was plenty!! The sweet-and-salty rice bowl was so good.

A generously portioned bowl of gyudon even at regular size

The croquette side

I got a little greedy and ordered the croquette as a side, and it was great too lol. It's like a potato croquette, but this place seems to nail every sauce — the croquette sauce is tangy and sweet, which is the highlight.

Lunch with a kid at Gin Jaryoko: the verdict

Mission accomplished — lunch with my kid at Gin Jaryoko, the pork cutlet favorite in Gojan-dong, Ansan! The food was so good she just sat quietly and ate haha. Gyudon, pork cutlet, croquette — she ate a bit of everything and loved it all!
