Where to eat pasta near Myeongdong Cathedral: Seventy Four

Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch is a pasta and pizza restaurant on the first floor of the Familia Chapel at Myeongdong Cathedral. Today I'm posting a review of the pasta and pizza I had in Myeongdong at Seventy Four. My friend and I were meeting up in Myeongdong and looking for somewhere to eat, and I found a place near Myeongdong Cathedral that looked like it had a nice atmosphere, so I made a reservation and went. That's Myeongdong Seventy Four!

If you've been looking for somewhere to eat near Myeongdong Cathedral, you might have heard of this place before haha

Garden-like space in front of Seventy Four

Seventy Four's terrace and small garden

Near the entrance of Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch, there's a space styled like a small garden along with terrace seats. Before going in, I noticed this little garden-like space. So as you walk in, ta-da, this terrace space appears!! There are terrace seats too, so on a nice day it would be so lovely to eat outside. Myeongdong is such a crowded area that having a space like this felt better than I expected haha. I heard it's actually a popular spot for meals with friends or dates. It had been sunny and bright the day before so I expected a great atmosphere, but of course it was cloudy the day we went — as they say, the day you plan a picnic it rains. Still, it was nice and cool!!

We were shown to our reserved seats. They brought water and the menu right away haha. Time to read through the menu carefully..haha

We sat down and took our time looking over the menu haha. There were more variety than I expected. Besides pizza and pasta, there was also risotto, salad, and steak, plus wine and beer available. There were some pretty unusual items too, like chamnamul (mountain herb) doenjang pasta, bulgogi risotto, and kimchi risotto, so we spent a while going 'oh, they have this too??' lol

What we ended up ordering that day was rucola prosciutto pizza, chorizo shrimp oil pasta, and to drink, an ade and a Stella beer!!

We were chatting away so much, catching up on everything

Up close, the rucola (arugula) was piled on generously. With prosciutto and cheese on top too, the colors looked pretty and it looked really appetizing. I love rucola, so I was already sold just from the look of it haha.

A plate of chorizo shrimp oil pasta

And the chorizo shrimp oil pasta that came out with it costs ₩18,000. It's an oil pasta with both shrimp and chorizo, and according to the menu description, it's a slightly spicy style where the chorizo's flavor blends with the shrimp. We ordered it to eat alongside the pizza, and together the combination was just right.

My friend picked the ade and I ordered the Stella beer haha. That's what we ordered, but there was also a wide range of wines, so I thought if you came for dinner, pairing it with wine would be great too.

Is two dishes enough for two people at Seventy Four?

With pizza, pasta, beer, and an ade all together, the table got pretty full haha. I'd gone to Myeongdong planning to have dinner, and ordering two dishes for two people to share turned out perfect!! So if you're looking for a lunch spot in Myeongdong, I think picking your menu this way could work well too.

The full table shared between two people at Seventy Four

Looking over the whole menu, Myeongdong Seventy Four isn't just a place to come for pasta — you can have pizza, pasta, risotto, and pair it with wine or beer, so it seems like a great spot for a group to order a variety of dishes to share. I actually saw some people ordering salads or simple dishes to go with wine or beer!! We had pizza and pasta this time, but next time I'd like to try other menu items too haha. I was especially curious about the chamnamul doenjang pasta and kimchi risotto I saw on the menu.

Calm-atmosphere indoor seating at Seventy Four

I personally liked the atmosphere of the interior too. Myeongdong is such a bustling area that a lot of restaurants there feel hectic, but maybe because Seventy Four is tucked inside Myeongdong Cathedral, it had a somewhat calm feel. It was nice for chatting and eating slowly with a friend, and I think it would work well as a date spot too.

What to know before visiting Seventy Four

If you're looking for somewhere to eat in Myeongdong, somewhere for pasta near Myeongdong Station, or a nice-atmosphere restaurant near Myeongdong Cathedral, give Myeongdong Seventy Four a try!! Oh, and the terrace seats get more popular as the weather gets nicer. I'd recommend booking ahead!!
