Family lunch in Myeongdong: ragu pasta with a kid at Seventy Four

The weather was so nice that I pulled my daughter out of daycare for a day and we had a spontaneous Myeongdong date. It all started when she said she wanted to buy jewel stickers at Daiso, haha🤪🤪 For lunch, since she loves pasta, I looked up Myeongdong restaurant recommendations and picked Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch.

Location and atmosphere of Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch

Seventy Four Myeongdong Cathedral Main Branch is on the first floor of Familia Chapel at Myeongdong Cathedral, 66 Myeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's right in the middle of Myeongdong, but the moment you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes — like a brief escape from the crowded, bustling streets outside.

High ceilings and light pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows made the whole space feel bright and relaxed, and the clean interior with white-toned tables made it easy to bring a kid along without worry.

There was also a big ribbon decoration on the wall that was a subtle but effective accent — not overdone, but it really lifted the mood of the space. My daughter, who's obsessed with princess play these days, loved it and kept saying how pretty the ribbon was, haha.

There's also a terrace space connected to the outside, which I imagine would be even nicer on a good-weather day.

Why it was easy to bring my daughter along

The staff were genuinely kind. When my daughter said she wanted to draw, they brought her colored pens and paper, and she was so happy about it.

What we ordered: ragu pasta + garden fruit salad

That day we ordered the garden fruit salad and the ragu pasta.

Since it was just lunch for the two of us, we kept it simple — one pasta plus a salad rather than ordering a lot — and it turned out to be a great combination. Oh, and we also got an iced americano♡

I was thirsty and the coffee was tasty, so I gulped it right down, haha.

Garden fruit salad

First up, the garden fruit salad. The colors were gorgeous the moment it arrived. I love salad, so I was already satisfied just from the look of it😍

It had fresh vegetables along with a variety of fruits like green grapes, cherry tomatoes, grapefruit and orange, plus a generous amount of cheese on top — it looked much fuller than a typical green salad.

Having fruit in the salad added sweet, refreshing bursts in between bites compared to eating just vegetables. A salad before the meal is a must, right?

In particular, the tartness of fruits like grapefruit, the sweetness of the green grapes, and the salty note of the cheese were all really delicious together.

Ragu pasta

And of course, the main event of the day: ragu pasta. It's made with a ragu sauce simmered for a long time using pork and beef, and there was a generous amount of meat in the sauce.

There was a generous grating of cheese on top of the noodles too, which was exactly my pasta-loving daughter's taste from the moment it arrived.

With tomato-based pasta, if the sauce is too light or too tangy, kids sometimes won't eat much of it — but this ragu pasta had meat in it, giving it a heavier, smoother flavor that made it easy to enjoy together with my daughter.

Aww♡ She dug into the pasta with her fork, munching away happily, and kept telling me 'Mom, so yummy'🥰

Eating only ragu pasta the whole time can get a little heavy, but pairing it with bites of the garden fruit salad in between refreshed the palate, so the two dishes really complemented each other.

Is it a good place to eat with kids in Myeongdong?

Personally, when I look for restaurants in Myeongdong, I care about the atmosphere of the place almost as much as the food. Myeongdong is so crowded that even a lot of restaurants there feel chaotic, but this place had a relatively relaxed, clean interior, making it comfortable to eat slowly with my daughter.

As a mom, when you're out with a kid, food matters of course, but you naturally end up looking for places that aren't too cramped or with tables too close together. In that sense, Seventy Four worked just as well for bringing a child as it would for a date or a meal with friends.

This wasn't a grand, planned outing at all — it started from just one line: 'Mom, I want to go to Daiso and buy jewel stickers.' But somehow days that start this spontaneously end up staying in my memory longer. We shopped in Myeongdong, walked toward Myeongdong Cathedral, had pasta, then wandered around again — a course that was easy to do with a kid.

If you have a pasta-loving kid especially, I'd recommend ordering the ragu pasta together with the refreshing garden fruit salad. It was a spontaneous Myeongdong date with my daughter, but having a proper delicious lunch made the day even better. I'm planning to go back soon with friends — and next time I definitely want to try the other pastas and pizzas too.
