Room 105 river-view pension stay in Yeongwol: Maru Pension Camping

In short

Maru Pension Camping Site is a pension-and-campground stay right on the Pyeongchang River in Juchon-myeon, Yeongwol, Gangwon. A one-night September stay in Room 105, a double, brought a window full of river view, stars pouring down at 8:30pm, and a riverside seat made from the room's own chair and table. If you want a quiet stay without hauling gear, Maru Pension Camping Site fits well.

A September stay in Room 105, a double, at Maru Pension Camping Site — my record of a camping-site trip to Yeongwol.

*You can feel this nature exactly as it is!*

Why I picked Maru Pension Camping Site for a September trip to Yeongwol

Right now! With cool breezes and no humid heat, September is the perfect season to really heal in nature, so I went to Maru Pension Camping Site in Yeongwol. I really think this might be the best season to travel right now. I rested quietly and genuinely felt nature here.

I wrote everything down carefully!! So please check out this one-night, two-day weekend review.

Location, check-in, and parking info

  • 📍 Address: 249-58 Pyeongchanggang-ro, Juchon-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do (1km straight toward Pyeongchang)
  • Check-in 15:00 / Check-out 11:00
  • 🚘🚗 Parking is available inside the campground, at the site, and in front of the pension! *Easy to move your bags*
  • ✔️ Cost for staying a full month is ₩300,000

The road winds along the river, which might seem worrying in winter, but a snow-removal vehicle operates 24 hours! After sunset it does get a bit chilly, but nowhere near as cold as Seoul. If you're here to heal with nature, keep this in mind!

The Pyeongchang River right out front, stars pouring down at 9pm

What I loved most was the view of the Pyeongchang River flowing right in front. You can look down at the river from the pension, and see it up close from the campground too — the moment I arrived, I thought, "I really came to the right place!"

Everyone, , , there are so many stars in the sky!!

And it wasn't even late — this was around 8:30 to 9pm. I stepped out for a short walk after dinner and nearly fainted looking up at the sky. Hahahahahaha.

What is Room 105, the double, like?

*Room 105, a double* — nature alone was healing enough that I barely had time to stay indoors. Still, let me show you around! Even standing in front of this room, you can see the whole river.

Since Room 105 faces the river right in front, there's a building behind it, so you can't park directly at the door. Every time guests check in, the owner carefully guides them from parking all the way to the room. That day no one was staying in the room behind ours, so we parked right there, and moving our bags was very easy.

Supplies and amenities provided

This was a one-night trip for healing in nature, and most of what you'd need in a room was well prepared, so I could stay comfortably without big luggage.

Stay supplies prepared in the room
Items and storage space provided in the room
Foam cleanser, body wash, and conditioner amenities

Foam cleanser, body wash, and conditioner — these three were provided. For anything else, bring what suits your style. The hair dryer is in the drawer!

Kitchen and sink area in the room
Usage notice posted by the sink

A notice board visible while doing the dishes! Good to read once in case you miss anything.

Boiler installed in the bathroom

The boiler was actually in the bathroom? So the hot water comes out immediately, really hot.

Window view and bug worries

This is our window VIEW. Amazing, right?

There's also a blind, so you can shut it out completely at night. The best part was there were way fewer bugs than expected! There's a separate mosquito screen on the door too, so no mosquitoes while sleeping — I slept so comfortably.

Pension + campground — how are they split?

There's a pension where you can stay indoors like we did, and a campground right along the river for camping. Rooms are above, the campground below — set up so everyone can rest and heal endlessly in front of nature.

Our little spot for a while

Since we only planned to stay in the room, we didn't bring any camping gear. So we used the room's own chair and table, and the owner happily allowed it, letting us heal in nature for even longer.

What about dinner? Town is 10 minutes away

*There are lots of chicken restaurants in town, about a 10-minute drive away! There's a convenience store too — order and pick up right away.

Even without a barbecue, ~ just this much was already filling.

So great, , , there were people catching dalsulgi (freshwater snails), people fishing, and people just healing like me — all kinds.

There's an open lot for badminton too

Besides the campground and pension, there's an open, lot-like space off to one side. You can play badminton or jokgu (foot volleyball) here! We played badminton there to help digest dinner.

Lastly, the owner is here from morning to night every day in person, so replies are super fast and the pension is really well maintained. I thought, this is a place that's genuinely well managed, and thanks to that, I got a proper quiet healing in nature!

If you're really looking for comfortable rest, I recommend Maru Pension Camping Site :)
