An Ajou University café I went back to for the flat white

This wasn't my first visit to Jo Hui-tak Coffee. I stopped by once before while looking for a café near Ajou University, and the flat white I had that time stuck with me as pretty delicious.

This time too, while looking for somewhere to grab a coffee after lunch on a weekday, Jo Hui-tak Coffee naturally came to mind. Since it had been a while, I decided to enjoy the flat white along with some dessert this time!!

The orange-accented sign and cute character catch your eye, so it's easy to spot even tucked in the alley.

At the entrance and window, there are photos of various cakes, so it was fun browsing what dessert to get even before stepping inside.
Study-friendly seating and the café atmosphere

Visiting again after a while, I was reminded how spacious the place is — still one of its best points.

The overall wood-tone interior feels clean but not too cold, and the seating comes in several different forms.
Outlets and wifi are available, so it's also great for bringing a laptop and working.

It's a comfortable spot whether you're reading or studying alone, or sitting and chatting with a friend.

If you're looking for an Ajou University café that's not just a coffee stop but a place to comfortably settle in for an hour or two, this one fits the bill.
Menu and the cake showcase

There's a wide range of coffee, non-coffee, and tea options, and you can even choose decaf coffee.

The showcase has everything from fruit cream cakes to cheesecakes, so you can pick by eye.
- ✔️ Flat white
- ✔️ Hot decaf Americano
- ✔️ Musk melon cake
Flat white

The flat white was memorable from my last visit too, and drinking it again this time confirmed it's still exactly my style haha. Rather than the milk's softness taking over, the coffee flavor comes through pretty clearly, which I love.
When I drink coffee, I prefer tasting some of the bean's character over just milk flavor, and in that respect it suited my taste perfectly.
Decaf Americano

The hot decaf Americano was solid and easy to drink haha. Not necessarily a standout flavor, but a comfortable, ordinary Americano feel.
Musk melon cake

Coffee alone felt like not quite enough, so I ordered the musk melon cake too. The melon itself wasn't super sweet or intensely flavored.

But there was a good amount of melon packed inside the cake, and the fruit's texture came through well, which made it fun to eat haha. I preferred this over a purely sweet fruit cake, since you could really taste the distinct texture of the melon.

Paired with a drink like the flat white with its clear coffee flavor, the dessert's sweetness and the coffee went really well together. With so many cake options, if you're looking for an Ajou University dessert spot, it's worth checking the showcase and picking whatever you're craving that day.
What I was most satisfied with was still the flat white, and the space remained just as comfortable. With outlets and wifi, laptop work is easy, and the varied seating means it's not awkward to visit alone.

On the flip side, it's also a comfortable place to sit and chat with someone, so it feels like a really versatile café.

Most of all, I personally loved that this is the kind of café you come back to because you remember a menu item you loved before.
There's also a Naver receipt review event running, so check it out if you're interested!
