Suwon café for mango sando and Basque cheesecake: Jo Hui-tak Coffee

After eating near Ajou University, finding somewhere for dessert can be surprisingly tricky. I could have just had a quick coffee, but I was craving something sweet that day, so I stopped by Jo Hui-tak Coffee (조희탁커피). Rather than ordering drinks only, I picked the two desserts that caught my eye. They felt quite different from each other, so I was curious which one I would prefer even before tasting them.

It is down a side street, so I was a little confused at first. Please use the photos as a reference and make sure you find it! From the photos alone, it looked like a small café with limited seating, but it was actually spacious inside and had so many seats!

I ordered Basque cheesecake and apple mango sando (a fruit-and-cream sandwich). One was a sandwich with yellow filling tucked between soft cream, while the other was a cake-style dessert with a deeply baked top.

Just by appearance, the apple mango sando first felt light and fresh, while the Basque cheesecake looked more likely to appeal to people who enjoy richer, heavier desserts. After tasting them, the cheesecake's dense texture was memorable, while the cream was on the sweeter side, so each had its own appeal.

Why ordering both together was nice

Having both made the difference between them much clearer than ordering just one. One was bright and refreshing, while the other was rich and substantial, so it was fun to alternate between them.

The one I found myself reaching for more was the apple mango cream sando. Its sweetness especially suited my taste a little better.

Jo Hui-tak Coffee was a nice stop on days when I wanted to enjoy dessert along with coffee rather than grab a quick drink near Ajou University. The café was especially spacious and comfortable, so I felt it suited solo visits, friends, dates, or studying. However, there did not seem to be a particularly suitable place to park, so I recommend checking before you go.
