Peppermint tea and peach pastry at a Yangsan café: Choi Main Branch

Today I went to Choi Main Branch, a large bakery café in Yangsan, because I wanted to eat delicious bread with a friend and really catch up!

When I go to a café, tasty desserts matter, but if we're planning to sit and talk for a while, a spacious layout with a good view makes me so much happier haha. On that front, Choi Main Branch had it all — great bakery items plus a wide-open floor-to-ceiling window view! It was a healing kind of Yangsan café to chat with a friend in.

Where is Choi Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Choi Main Branch is located at 83 Yangsan-daero, Dongmyeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's close to Hopo Station too, so it was fine to visit even without a car.

Hours are daily 09:00–21:50, with last order on the 2nd floor at 21:20 — worth noting if you're visiting late!

Parking at Choi Main Branch is genuinely wide

I drove there, and honestly the spacious parking lot was a huge plus. You know that draining feeling when you're circling around a big café looking for a spot before you've even gotten inside? Here there was plenty of parking, so I could park comfortably and walk right in.

You can also go straight up via elevator from the underground parking lot, which was convenient. It seems like a good stop not just for people in Yangsan but also for a drive from Busan haha.

The 1st floor: bakery heaven at Choi Main Branch

When you walk into the café, you first pick out the bread you want to eat on the 1st floor.

And... when there are this many kinds of bread, the agonizing begins lol

The bread was displayed in so many varieties that it was fun to browse and pick one by one. There was everything from sweet desserts to bread that's great to take home, so I ended up choosing separately what to eat there and what to pack up haha.

How good is the bakery at Choi Main Branch?

Choi isn't just a café that's big in size —

CHOI Bakery's history was on display too: representative Choi Jeong-ho of the Korea Bakers Association, an original member and head chef career at Haewoldang, winner of the 2024 Baguette & Croissant Championship, recipient of the 2024 K-Bakery Prime Minister's Award, and a judge at the 2025 Baguette & Croissant Championship.

You could also see signage about the 2024 Blue Ribbon Baguette & Croissant Championship in the store. So it's not just that there are many kinds of bread —

you really get the feeling this place takes its bakery seriously haha.

Drink menu and prices at Choi Main Branch

The drink lineup was more varied than I expected. The coffee menu was:

• Choi Signature Latte ₩7,500
• Americano ₩5,000
• Air-i-cano ₩5,500
• Café Latte ₩5,500
• Vanilla Latte ₩6,000
• Café Mocha ₩6,500
• Caramel Macchiato ₩6,500

That was the lineup. You can add decaf for an extra ₩500.

From cold brew to smoothies, ades, teas and lattes, there's quite a selection so non-coffee drinkers have plenty of options too. The peppermint tea I ordered was ₩5,500.

Choi has a one-drink-per-person rule, though bread and desserts are excluded — worth knowing before you visit haha.

Choi Main Branch signature drinks

Looking at the menu board, Choi has its own signature drinks too. The Choi Signature Latte is an iced latte that combines sweet, nutty pecan cream with deep, smooth coffee.

I had a different drink this time, but I want to try this one next visit haha. And for summer, there's the Choi Cup Bingsu (shaved ice) ₩8,500 and Choi Mango Cup Bingsu ₩9,000, among other —

season menu items. The seasonal lineup may change with the weather, so it's worth checking when you visit.

Order on the 1st floor, pick up on the 2nd

The system at Choi Main Branch was a bit unusual. You pick your bread and order your drinks on the 1st floor! Once your order is complete, you go up to the 2nd floor to pick up your drink.

If it's your first visit you might wonder, where do I get my drink? — that was me lol. I ended up going back down to the 1st floor... It's easier to remember as: order on 1st floor → pick up drinks on 2nd floor.

What we ordered at Choi Main Branch

The menu we chose to eat there was:

• Wagujak Peach
• Mont Blanc Chestnut Cream Bow Pastry
• Peppermint tea
• Decaf coffee

Wagujak peach pastry

First up, wagujak peach! Isn't the name kind of cute already haha. The moment I took a bite, the peach flavor and aroma hit right away.

Sweet peach and a soft texture come together, with that distinct sweet peach flavor — dessert lovers will probably enjoy this a lot. I especially loved the peach aroma in the very first bite haha.

Mont Blanc chestnut cream bow pastry

The other one was the Mont Blanc Chestnut Cream Bow Pastry! This had a completely different charm from the wagujak peach. What I loved was the texture — crispy and crunchy, paired with the nutty, subtle aroma of chestnut, which kept me reaching for more.

Ordering one soft, sweet wagujak peach and one crispy, nutty Mont Blanc together was a good call haha.

Peppermint tea and decaf coffee: a good pairing

For drinks, we ordered decaf coffee and peppermint tea.

With all that sweet bakery, sipping a drink in between hit the spot. The peppermint tea in particular felt like it cleaned my palate, making it great to alternate with the bread. The coffee paired nicely with the bakery too. I also liked that you can choose decaf if caffeine is a concern haha.

The floor-to-ceiling window seats

One more thing I loved about Choi Main Branch — the view. Through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the outside view is refreshingly open, and sitting there felt like my whole field of vision opened up!

I looked at the scenery outside with my friend while eating bread, drinking coffee, and chatting away lol. Why does talking with a friend never seem to run out... I swear we'd said everything, then suddenly there's more to say lol.

Since the space itself is so spacious, it never felt stuffy even after talking for a long time, and with the open view outside it felt genuinely healing. If you're looking for a big Yangsan café, this part will definitely appeal to you.

There's a rooftop at Choi Main Branch too

Besides the 2nd floor, you can also enjoy drinks and bakery items on the rooftop.

On a nice day, enjoying the floor-to-ceiling window view indoors is great, but spending time on the rooftop breathing outside air sounds nice too. The mood probably changes a bit with the seasons, so once it cools down I want to properly try the rooftop haha.

In the end, I brought home fig bottle cake, chestnut bread, and tofu chips lol.

It doesn't end at the café — round two of Choi happens at home too haha. With such a wide variety of bakery items, it also seemed great to pack bread to share with parents or family.

What to know about packing bread to go

Leftover bread can be packed at the self-packing station on the 2nd floor mentioned earlier —

and if you need a shopping bag, they're provided for a fee. Small is ₩100, large is ₩200!

It's set up so you only buy a bag if you actually need one, for the sake of the environment and saving resources. If you're planning to pack several items like I did, it might be worth bringing your own tote bag haha.

Is there Wi-Fi at Choi Main Branch?

You can also use Wi-Fi, which is great for chatting with a friend for a long time or coming alone with a laptop or tablet to pass the time.

Since it's a spacious large Yangsan café, it seems good for all kinds of visits — solo, chatting with friends, dates, or coming with family.

Verdict: a Yangsan bakery café built for long catch-ups

I visited wanting to chat comfortably with a friend, eat good bread, and —

get a bit of healing time in, and that's exactly what Choi Main Branch delivered! Personally, I loved the wide variety of bakery items, but the wide-open view through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows was what really won me over. It didn't feel stuffy at all — the open sightlines made it perfect for chatting away with a friend haha.

The wagujak peach left an impression with its sweet peach flavor and soft texture from the very first bite, and the Mont Blanc chestnut cream bow pastry was right up my alley with its crispy texture and subtle chestnut aroma. The coffee and peppermint tea both paired well with the bread too, so the overall menu combo was satisfying.

With plenty of parking and a location close to Hopo Station, it's convenient whether you drive or take public transit, and with seating from the 2nd floor indoors to the rooftop, it's a great large bakery café if you're looking to spend relaxed time in Yangsan — Choi Main Branch is worth a visit.

Especially if you want to eat good bread while piling up things to talk about with a friend lol, chat, and heal a little, I'd recommend it! Next time I need to go raid the breads I couldn't try this time haha.
