I went out for snow crab again after a while today. As the weather turned cool, I suddenly craved good snow crab. This time I visited Gijang Myeongpum Daegae in Gijang Market, Busan. Gijang has so many crab restaurants that I was torn on where to go, but I picked this one because it's appeared on TV shows like Stocking and 2 Days & 1 Night! Let's dive right into the vibe of the place and the food, one by one :)

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae sits inside Gijang Market, and there's a huge crab painting on the front of the shop, so even first-time visitors can spot it easily. If you're looking for a crab restaurant in Gijang Market, this one's worth noting as a Gijang must-visit.
Picking your snow crab from the tank

Right past the entrance of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, the tanks come into view immediately. There were all kinds of crabs, from snow crab to king crab, and up close they were moving actively and looked very fresh overall. This is really the fun part of snow crab — picking one out with your own eyes!

First you need to pick which crab to eat, and the tanks had everything from huge king crabs to Hokkaido snow crab from Japan and Russian snow crab.

Crabs here, crabs there 🦀🦀 — wherever you looked, there were snow crab and king crab, haha. Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is known as a Gijang, Busan spot that a lot of people visit for king crab too, but today we went with snow crab since it had been a while.
Gijang snow crab prices per kg (September 18)

This is the price list as of September 18, 2026! The price differs by crab type. Russian A-grade snow crab is ₩85,000/kg, and top-grade is ₩90,000/kg! Hokkaido A-grade snow crab is ₩65,000/kg. King crab ranges from ₩95,000 to ₩120,000/kg depending on the type. If you've been curious about Gijang snow crab or king crab prices, this should be helpful.

The ₩85,000 Russian snow crab looked a bit bigger and more appetizing than the Hokkaido one, so we went with that (₩85,000 per kg).
How the weighing works: two crabs, 1.6kg, 130,000 won

At Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, they first put the crab you're weighing into a perforated basket so no water gets in. They zero out the empty basket's weight, then put the crab in and weigh it right there. Being able to watch the weighing happen right in front of you, right after picking the crab, felt trustworthy to me. The two crabs we chose came to 1.6kg total, priced at ₩130,000. It was a better price than I expected, which made me think snow crab really is best eaten in Gijang.

Once you've picked your crab, they put it straight into the steamer and give you a number tag. Ours would take about 30 minutes to steam, so we spent the time wandering around Gijang Market while we waited.
Inside Gijang Myeongpum Daegae: seating and rooms

The interior of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae was neatly arranged too. The tables were spaced decently, and there were group seats available, which made it seem like a good place for family gatherings or visits with several people.
Each table came with crab crackers and picking tools so you could eat the snow crab comfortably. They also gave us small plates and disposable gloves, so there was no worry about getting your hands messy, haha.
Table setting fee and what else is on the menu

The table setting fee at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae was ₩5,000 per person, which wasn't too much of a burden. Even adding it to the crab price, it seemed reasonable overall.
Self-serve side dish bar and how the steamed crab tastes

The side dishes are self-serve. There were several kinds, so we could try a little of each while the crab was steaming.

But you can't fill up too much here! Our main event is the crab, after all. Make sure to save room for the snow crab!

The crab we'd been waiting for finally arrived! True to its reputation as a Gijang, Busan crab spot, it looked delicious just from the visual.

The crab came already prepared and cut into easy-to-eat pieces from legs to body, so we could dig in right away without doing any prep ourselves. And of course, it came with the crab roe sauce that's essential when eating snow crab!

Each crab leg had also been cut and prepped to be easy to eat. You can see from the photo how packed the meat is inside the legs, right? Overall the meat was plump and generous, making it easy to eat.
The claw legs especially had big chunks of meat, and being already prepped made them easy to eat as they were.

Crab intestine fried rice set to finish the meal
After eating a good amount of the crab, we finished off with an order of crab intestine fried rice. Fried rice made savory with crab intestines mixed in!!! It was a great menu to close out the meal after the crab. And ordering the crab intestine fried rice comes as a set with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), so you don't need to order it separately! With fried rice and doenjang jjigae together, it made for a satisfying end to the meal.
Is Gijang Myeongpum Daegae worth it? Final verdict

It had been a while since I'd had snow crab, and it was worth the trip out to Gijang, Busan. Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is located inside Gijang Market, so it wasn't hard to find, and being able to pick the crab myself and immediately confirm the weight made the whole process easy. We picked two crabs weighing about 1.6kg, priced at ₩130,000, plus a ₩5,000 per person table setting fee.
Best of all, the crab came already prepped for easy eating, and finishing with the crab intestine fried rice made for a satisfying meal. It's spacious and comfortable enough for a family gathering near Gijang Market, so it'd be a good spot to bring parents along too. Oh, and there's also a small play room, so parents with young kids might find their little ones enjoying it too! If you're looking for a place to eat snow crab near Gijang Market, or wondering about snow crab prices in Gijang, Busan, this one's worth checking out.
