Today I visited Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store, a Vietnamese restaurant in Jeongja-dong, Seongnam! The weather's getting chilly, and this was the perfect spot for rich pho broth plus fried rice to finish it off~ If you like Vietnamese food, you really have to try this place!! My husband and I have visited many times and even ordered delivery before, haha.

Entrance and interior of Kkamon in Jeongja-dong

The moment I arrived at the entrance, I could tell — the interior really feels like Vietnam! The exterior decor especially is styled so well, haha. The lighting and props all give off that authentic Vietnamese vibe, so the second I walked in I felt like I was traveling again!

The inside was clean and tidy!
Kkamon's menu and how the set is put together

You order and pay via tablet at the table — we ordered the pork backbone pho + Kkamon fried rice & stir-fried water spinach set! My husband wanted to add bún chả too, but I barely talked him out of it... We both love bún chả so we'll try it next time! This combo was just right for the two of us to eat until full~ You absolutely have to get the Kkamon fried rice here!! (It's the dish we order every single time.) Next time I want to try the seafood fried rice too — seems like a lot of people order that one as well, haha.
Pork backbone pho: how were the noodles cooked?

First up, one of the signature dishes — pork backbone pho! The broth was really rich, the backbone meat was so tender it fell off with just chopsticks, and a subtle meaty aroma rose up that paired perfectly with the broth!
Something I especially pay attention to with pho is how the noodles are cooked, and I loved that they weren't mushy at all! They still had a slight bounce when chewed, not too soft, so the texture was great~ The bean sprouts were also cooked just right, and eating them together with the noodles made for a really nice texture combo, haha.
What does Kkamon fried rice taste like?

This is fluffy fried rice, kind of like egg fried rice, topped with stir-fried pork, and it has amazing smoky wok-hei flavor! The pork seasoning tasted familiar somehow, and I realized — it tastes like well-cooked yangnyeom galbi (seasoned short ribs)! That sweet-salty smoky flavor, you know the one? The rice grains were fried up nice and fluffy, so I kept reaching for more... This is genuinely a dish everyone would like! The fried egg on top was cooked almost like it was deep-fried, so good!
Stir-fried water spinach, my husband's favorite dish at Kkamon

And my husband's absolute favorite — the stir-fried water spinach! It's stir-fried over high heat with garlic and oil, giving off a subtle smoky aroma, and the stems still had that crisp, crunchy texture that made him happy every time he ate it, haha (texture is the most important thing for my husband...). It wasn't too heavily seasoned either, so it was perfect to pick at as a palate refresher between bites of pho and fried rice!

Is Kkamon good for solo dining? Final verdict
Beyond the food, the staff were so kind too, which made the whole meal feel great~ I've been to plenty of Vietnamese restaurants, but it's rare to find one that nails both the authentic atmosphere and the taste this well! (Even the delivery kept the same quality as eating in the restaurant~)
I also noticed nearby office workers and students from local academies eating alone here! It didn't feel awkward for solo dining at all, which I think says a lot about how good the food is, haha. The interior and the taste both really brought back memories of traveling in Vietnam, haha. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a great pho spot in Bundang! I'd definitely visit again — many, many times over!!! Next time I'll try some other menu items too~ :)
