How long is the walk to Kkamon from Jeongja Station?

If you're looking for somewhere to eat lunch near Jeongja Station and happen to be craving Vietnamese food, Kkamon Bundang Jeongja Direct Store might be just the spot. It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Jeongja Station and close to Naver 1784, so it's easy to get to for an office lunch too. There was a pretty bold sign on one side written in a traditional brush-style font that just said 'pho sold here' — it really stood out.

Inside Kkamon: a taste of Vietnam in central Bundang

What struck me most walking in was the atmosphere — unlike a typical Vietnamese restaurant, it genuinely felt like stepping into an actual Vietnamese eatery transplanted into the city. The staff are foreign and the interior really carries that local feel. The tables and chairs aren't all matched to one style either, they're all different, and somehow that mismatched, natural look made the place feel even more authentically Vietnamese.

The seating was varied too. There were window-side solo seats good for eating alone, plus 2- and 4-person tables, so it didn't feel awkward at all going in solo. The kitchen was visible through a glass window, so you could watch the food being made in a clean, open space.

Ordering is simple — just use the tablet at your table. If you're on your own, the solo set menus work well, and if there are two of you, it's easy to pick a few dishes and share. Overall this feels like a great fit for anyone hunting for a lunch spot near Jeongja Station.

Kkamon pho, 11,000 won: what does the broth taste like?

A deep, no-frills broth — that's the Kkamon pho. The first thing I ordered was Kkamon's signature pho. It's 11,000 won, and the broth, simmered from beef shank and brisket, is generous enough that it feels like good value.

Rather than being loaded with extra flavors, this is a pho that sticks to the basics, but the broth itself is really deep and rich. From the very first spoonful you get that strong meaty broth flavor, but it never feels heavy or greasy.

Pho topped with onion slices and scallions

I think that's thanks to the onion slices and the generous pile of chopped scallions on top. Amid the rich meat broth, the onion and scallion aroma adds a refreshing note, and the broth ends up tasting clean.

Beef slices and the self-serve pickled onion bar

The thin slices of meat on top were generous too, tender rather than chewy, so they went well with the broth. I also tried the sweet-and-sour pickled onions served alongside, and they were a great refreshing match. With bites of tangy pickled onion in between spoonfuls of the rich pho broth, my palate kept resetting, and I found myself reaching for more and more. If you want extra, you can just grab more from the self-serve bar.

With a truly authentic Vietnamese restaurant, the flavors can sometimes be a bit too local for some palates. But Kkamon's pho keeps that distinctive Vietnamese character while staying approachable for Korean tastes, so I think just about anyone would enjoy it.

If you're after a pho restaurant near Bundang, I'd especially recommend the Kkamon signature pho for its rich broth. And if you want a heartier meal with rice, the fried rice office-worker set I'll show next is also great.

For a heartier meal, there's the fried rice office-worker set. The second thing I ordered was this set. True to its name, it's built to be a filling lunch for office workers, and the portion is bigger than expected — it felt like about 1.5 servings.

On top of the fluffy stir-fried rice sat sautéed meat and a fried egg with a runny yolk. Breaking the yolk a bit and eating it with the rice and meat doubled the savory flavor, and the crunchy fried onion flakes scattered throughout added a nice texture that made the meal fun to eat.

I also liked the water spinach that came with it. Its crisp texture was still intact, with a subtly nice aroma, and it paired well with the Kkamon fried rice.

What I liked most about this set menu at a Jeongja-dong restaurant is that it comes with pho broth on the side. Eating warm broth alongside the fried rice, rather than just fried rice alone, made it feel like a properly complete meal.

Lunch or dinner: when is the best time to visit Kkamon?

Since the dishes all have such deep, savory flavor overall, this place would also work well in the evening for a light drink alongside Vietnamese dishes, not just pho. For lunch it's a great filling meal, and for dinner it's a relaxed spot to enjoy Vietnamese food — as a restaurant in Jeongja-dong, Kkamon really delivers on both counts.
