A partially sponsored meal review — extra items were paid out of my own pocket.
This time I visited Grill the Terrace, a pork belly and beef spot in Dongtan, and my partner and I ate until we were completely stuffed haha.

We ordered the 1-geun Uiseong garlic charcoal grill combo! It comes with beef short rib and pork belly together, and it's not just plain meat — it's marinated with garlic sauce made using Uiseong yukjok garlic (six-clove garlic), so it was seriously delicious. Seasoned pork ribs but somehow even fancier??

The interior is really spacious and the partitions are nicely arranged, so it's perfect for gatherings or company dinners! We went on a Friday evening and it was packed with coworkers having team dinners, family gatherings, and more. What does it mean when a BBQ place is crowded? It's a great restaurant!

Grill the Terrace's self-bar and side dishes

Grill the Terrace has a self-bar, so we could take as much lettuce, kimchi, and other side dishes as we wanted. I like to eat plenty of wrap greens with meat, so it was convenient to grab as much as I needed right away.

Grill the Terrace, a meat spot in Dongtan, also has a very generous side dish spread! Bean sprout salad, macaroni corn salad, myeong-i namul (pickled mountain garlic leaves), pickled radish, kimchi, and sauces including ssamjang, wasabi, salt, and mustard. So many options to dip your meat in according to taste!

Phew, once you order, they set up the charcoal grill for you. It's really hot... my face was practically cooking too haha... but the meat grills up so deliciously because of it!
How do the garlic-marinated beef short rib and pork belly taste?

Ahh, the garlic combo meat at Grill the Terrace, a beef spot in Dongtan!! My mouth was watering even before it hit the grill. Seriously, the garlic aroma was insane. Ungnyeo unni, are you watching? I don't hold back on garlic;;;
I tried the seasoned beef short rib first, and I loved the chewy texture unique to seasoned beef short rib. Add the charcoal aroma and it gets nuttier and more savory with each chew, with real meaty flavor coming through — and the garlic wasn't overpowering, it blended naturally with the meat. So tender... so delicious... I basically became the banana-eating meme guy,,,
We grilled the pork belly together too, and seasoned pork belly is something I hadn't had in a while. Garlic-marinated pork belly especially was my first time trying it, and it was much softer and more delicious than I expected.

And this one really needs to be eaten wrapped in a lettuce leaf. Grilled over charcoal, the outside gets slightly golden while the inside stays juicy, so my hand kept reaching back for more. The savory, fatty flavor of the pork belly combined with the garlic aroma made it incredibly umami-rich... wrapping it up instead of eating rice felt filling and healthy at the same time ><
When I'm on a Mounjaro diet, meat is honestly the best option for me. Delicious but still protein, so I'm getting nutrition covered!

Stone-pan kkakdugi fried rice with cheese, plus steamed egg
You can't finish BBQ without fried rice, right, haha. We added cheese to the stone pan kkakdugi fried rice, and since it comes out on a hot stone plate, you can eat it warm — the kkakdugi (radish kimchi) gave it a tangy, salty flavor that really came through. Eating this together with the meat is insane, ugh...ㅠㅠㅠ I want to eat it again...

We also ordered steamed egg, an essential when eating BBQ. It was soft and warm, so having it between bites of charcoal-grilled meat cleared the palate nicely.

Finishing with cold buckwheat noodles for dessert
My stomach already felt like it would burst, but I couldn't give up the cold noodles for dessert 😂 Finishing off the meat with cool cold noodles at the end cleaned up the palate nicely. Especially after eating so much of the garlic-seasoned meat, having that cool noodle broth really felt like the perfect ending... so good ㅠ
Is Grill the Terrace Dongtan worth it for two people?
Eating the 1-geun charcoal grill combo plus steamed egg, stone pan kkakdugi fried rice, and cold noodles between just the two of us really felt like we might burst haha. Still, going through everything from meat to sides to dessert, the menu combination worked so well that we ate happily right to the end.

If you want to eat beef and pork belly together in Dongtan, or want to try garlic-marinated meat that's a bit different from what you usually eat, this was a solid choice. If you're looking for a great BBQ restaurant in Dongtan, give the charcoal-grilled Uiseong garlic combo a try! 🥩🧄
