Hangover ramen at City Hall Station after a lunch work dinner

I had a lunch work dinner and on the way home my stomach felt totally empty 🐷 Does that happen to everyone after drinking..? So I got off at City Hall Station and went looking for a ramen place.

The restaurant spans basement level 1 and the 1st floor. It's apparently famous as a lunch spot for City Hall office workers, because the place was packed during weekday lunch hour.

Let's go in and see how cool it is inside.

Dachi bar seats good for solo dining

There were table seats as well as dachi (bar) seats, so solo diners like me could sit comfortably without feeling self-conscious. It was fairly empty when I first arrived, but people kept coming in. Since Mentsuru City Hall Branch is open every day with no break time, it seems to draw a steady stream of customers regardless of the hour — it felt like it'd be busy any day of the week.

I sat at the dachi seats and ate quietly — having solo seats made it really comfortable.

Menu and kiosk ordering

Ordering is done at the kiosk. The menu had plenty of options, but I ordered the spicy soy ramen. It's commonly called hangover ramen, and it was exactly what I needed right then. Spicy soy ramen (hangover ramen), peach cider.

Even after a lunch work dinner, seeing the beer photos almost swayed me..! But I fought it off with peach cider.

Naver review event notice in Korean and English

Apparently if you take part in the Naver review event, you get a free drink or fried gyoza. Since a lot of foreigners visit City Hall Station, it's even labeled in English. Cute (❁´▽`❁)

Ramen broth can splash, so I grabbed an apron just in case.

While waiting for the ramen, I portioned out some pickled radish too. I noticed this cute cat thing and wondered what it was — turns out the dachi seats, since so many solo diners sit there, have phone stands! Such a thoughtful touch.

How was the spicy soy ramen?

The spicy soy ramen!

The broth wasn't as spicy as I expected — it was comfortingly spicy, just the right level. Even people who can't handle spicy food much could probably eat this without much trouble.

The toppings were generous: chashu, egg, green onion, and menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), which often go into ramen.

The broth sat somewhere between Korean ramyeon and Japanese ramen. One spoonful and I felt my stomach settle right away..phew, this is truly hangover ramen 👍

The noodles were cooked perfectly springy, great for slurping. The chashu wasn't thin either — it was nice and thick, with a satisfying chew.

The onsen egg (soft-boiled egg) was delicious too, dipped lightly in the broth for a soft, moist bite.

I was also curious about the peach cider, so I ordered one — and it really is just peach-flavored cider. Refreshing..⋆⁺₊⋆

Yep.. I'm the person who eats lunch and then eats another lunch. So good..(๑❛ڡ❛๑)☆
