Inside the Jeongwang Station branch: chairs with storage under the seat

Today I came to Jeongwang-dong on a Sunday evening for some fire bone stew!! The restaurant was overall pretty compact in size. It's not a place with tons of wide tables, but that actually made it feel cozy rather than crowded — comfortable for a relaxed meal.

What I especially liked was that the chairs had built-in storage, so you could tuck away bags or belongings. It was more practical than I expected, since you don't need to hunt for somewhere to put your coat or bag. Everything was neatly arranged, making it a comfortable spot whether you're eating alone or with a companion.

Basic side dishes including seasoned chives and kimchi

The basic side dishes were seasoned chives, pickled radish, napa cabbage kimchi, and diced radish kimchi! Since we ordered the bone hangover soup, they also gave us a separate container of mustard sauce!

Cheongchun bone hangover soup, large: the broth and rice stirred in

The bone hangover soup at Cheongchun Bulbbyeojjim & Gamjatang Jeongwang Station branch comes with a bowl of rice too! It's not just the broth that's tasty — there's a good amount of meat still on the bones, so it was fun picking it off.

With napa greens and bean sprouts mixed in too, there was more variety in texture than just eating meat the whole time, and mixing a bit of rice into the broth let the rich soup soak into every grain, making it even tastier. I'd recommend tasting the broth on its own first, then mixing in rice partway through!

First time trying Cheongchun fire bone stew — how spicy is it?

The fire bone stew was a menu item I'd never tried before, so I was so curious what it would taste like from the moment we ordered! Once I tried it, the point was that the spicy-sweet sauce didn't just sit on the surface of the bones but really soaked into the meat between them.

The meat wasn't dry at all — it was tender and slid right off the bone, and it was well seasoned enough to be tasty even on its own. Honestly, the sauce was addictive haha. It was spicy but with a subtle sweetness and savoriness at the same time, so I kept reaching for more. Putting a bit of the sauce on rice and eating it with the meat was basically criminal — it disappeared the rice in no time!

There were also add-ons of rice cake, Chinese glass noodles, and potato! It was a bit spicier than I expected, but still tasty enough that I kept eating it anyway 😂 If you like spicy food, I think it would go really well with rice. This was my first time trying fire bone stew, and I could see why it's a popular menu item 🤍

Fluffy steamed egg served with the two-person set

Steamed egg and the full Set 2 table, verdict

The steamed egg that comes with the two-person set is perfect for neutralizing the spiciness! It's fluffy and moist, so it was nice to take a bite of it between mouthfuls of the spicy fire bone stew.

From the rich broth of the bone hangover soup to the spicy fire bone stew to the soft steamed egg, the combination of dishes was satisfying overall! I'd like to try other menu items next time! If you like bone hangover soup or spicy bone stew, this is definitely a place worth visiting 🤍 Looking forward to coming back!
