Yongsan, Seoul outdoor wine bar for cocktails: Sugar Hill

In short

Sugar Hill is an outdoor wine bar in Yongsan, Seoul. After making a Naver reservation, I enjoyed an Obok Cocktail, wine, and Cha Cha Tomato at a first-floor outdoor table, then looked around the third-floor private room and terrace. Sugar Hill is a lovely choice for a cool-weather date or a second stop of the night.

I visited Sugar Hill (슈가힐), a newly opened outdoor wine bar in Haebangchon’s super-hot Sinheung Market. The staff were so kind, and the restroom is right out front too, which was convenient❣️

Seating by floor and the private room

We made a Naver reservation and visited with ease! The first floor is mostly set up with tables for two, but there are also group tables for four or more.

The second floor has a totally different atmosphere! I found this floor the coziest and liked it best. I think it would be great for a group of three or four to push the tables together here.

☑️ The third floor is run as a private room. There is a minimum spend of ₩200,000 on weekdays and ₩250,000 on weekends, but having the space all to yourselves is the big plus! I heard it is often used for small gatherings, book clubs, and fan meetings too :)

Third-floor private room at Sugar Hill

And there is a private terrace connected to the third floor⛱️ If this were part of my home, I would drink here every day🥹

Since the weather was cool, we chose a first-floor outdoor table for that outdoor-bar feel! Everything from the lighting to the tableware felt polished and tidy✨

There is a satisfying set menu with steak, pasta, cheese, and two alcoholic drinks🍷 It would be perfect if you want a proper meal too, but we had already eaten, so sadly we passed🥲

An Obok Cocktail and a glass of wine

Signature Obok Cocktail (₩16,000), white wine (₩14,000)

Obok Cocktail and white wine at Sugar Hill

We started by sipping our drinks right away. I chose the signature Obok Cocktail, made with omija (Korean five-flavor berry) and bokbunja (Korean black raspberry), and it tasted new and fresh! The color was pretty too, and it was not strongly boozy, so it is a cocktail that women can easily sip away at.

Omija and bokbunja Obok Cocktail

The white wine was a classic Sauvignon Blanc style. It had both dryness and a touch of sweetness, making it an easy house wine that most people would enjoy 🍷

A glass of white wine at Sugar Hill

For our second glass, red wine (₩14,000). It felt like they poured us more than the first glass❣️ It was nicely chilled, and it went so well with the outdoor setting!

Chilled red wine

We had eaten a late lunch, so we ordered a light snack. We got the Cha Cha Tomato 🍅 on recommendation. It is a must-order dish you would regret skipping.

Cha Cha Tomato snack at Sugar Hill

This elegant wine snack combines ricotta cheese and sweet honey with basil, tomato, and jamón. The nutty pine nuts, with their little crunch, are the real kick. How did they think to use these ingredients together,,! I need to recreate this when I drink wine at home🫢

It also has fresh tomato, so there is less of that guilty feeling of eating something fattening—perfect👍 The fresh basil and ricotta balance the salty jamón so well. Such a goooood combination!

Sugar Hill Naver review event information

☑️ Write a Naver review and receive Sugar Hill butter popcorn on your next visit! If they added a review event for customers posting on the day too, I think even more guests would leave reviews enthusiastically❣️

If you are looking for a good spot in Sinheung Market or Haebangchon, I recommend Sugar Hill, this outdoor wine bar. It is great not only for dates but also as a second stop after a blind date or when you are getting to know someone❣️ The signature Obok Cocktail and Cha Cha Tomato are dishes I really hope you try. And if you are looking for a private rental space or gathering spot in Seoul, do check out the third floor too :)
