Chinese restaurant near Sadang Station: brisket jjamppong at Baoro China

In short

Baoro China Sadang Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, three minutes on foot from Sadang Station. On a weekend lunch visit, I tried pepper jjajangmyeon, brisket jjamppong, and shishito pepper gangpunggi; the dependable noodles and deeply flavored broth stood out. Verdict: a great pick for groups as well as a satisfying Chinese meal.

The best Chinese restaurant I’ve had near Sadang Station this year—faithful to the basics 🌟 (It may sound suspicious because I say everything is good, but it truly, truly is delicious ❤️)

This is a Sadang restaurant with private rooms, serving jjajangmyeon and jjamppong so delicious that they may be the best Chinese food I’ve had this year.

Baoro China (바오로차이나) is a great Chinese restaurant in Sadang with so many options that its menu runs to nine pages. The prices are a little higher, but the food is high quality to match ✨️

There are lunch and dinner courses, too, which is lovely because you can enjoy a variety of upscale dishes at reasonable prices 👍 We visited as two people for weekend lunch, so we did not try a course, but even so, this feels like a fantastic-value Chinese restaurant ❤️

  • Pepper jjajangmyeon + fried egg: ₩10,000
  • Brisket jjamppong: ₩17,000
  • Shishito pepper gangpunggi: ₩36,000

The dishes arrived in this order: shishito pepper gangpunggi → pepper jjajangmyeon → brisket jjamppong ✔️

The spicy, tingling flavor of pepper jjajangmyeon with a fried egg

The pepper jjajangmyeon arrived topped generously with peppers and then an egg—spicy-looking at a glance 🌶 The egg had a runny yolk, and there was garlic as well as pepper ✔️

The jjajangmyeon was very memorable. The thick noodles were hard to mix, but that meant they held the rich black-bean sauce so well—absolutely delicious ❤️ As someone who really loves jjajangmyeon, I can say Baoro China Sadang Branch gets the basics right: its jjajangmyeon is simply good 🌟

The fragrance of pepper and garlic made it spicy and pleasantly tingly, with even deeper savory flavor! It is hotter than Shin Ramyun, around the level of Yeol Ramen 🌶🌶

Brisket jjamppong piled high with brisket

Brisket jjamppong topped with brisket

The brisket jjamppong took the longest to arrive, but as you can see in the photo, it is piled high with brisket 🍖 I have never seen brisket jjamppong with this much brisket before, haha.

Jjamppong with brisket and seafood

There was not only separately stir-fried brisket but also seafood among the noodles! Since there was so much brisket, the seafood looked a little sparse.

Broth and noodles of brisket jjamppong

The jjamppong was memorable too: its broth is “very, very” deep 🌟 The brisket fat was not overly greasy, and the clean flavor of vegetables blended beautifully with the weightiness of the meat fat ❤️

Brisket jjamppong with stir-fried vegetables

The jjamppong was full of vegetables. They still held their shape, yet were very soft from being thoroughly stir-fried! That is why the broth tasted so clean 👍 Baoro China’s Chinese-style noodles are generally a little thin, so there is no floury taste and the savory flavor shines through ❤️

As someone who often orders brisket jjamppong elsewhere, this was a Chinese restaurant meal I enjoyed for the first time in a while: spicy but not too oily, and cooked just right 🌟🌟🌟

Shishito pepper gangpunggi, hotter than the jjamppong

Freshly served shishito pepper gangpunggi

The shishito pepper gangpunggi arrived before the other dishes. It was served so hot that steam was rising from it ✔️

Underneath the gangpunggi and shishito peppers were fried pepper flakes (spicy) and lettuce ✔️ It was spicier than expected—even hotter than the jjamppong—but the lettuce underneath was great for balancing the heat 🌶

Chicken thigh gangpunggi with thin batter

The gangpunggi’s batter was very thin, while the inside was substantial chicken thigh meat! It was so tender, and its natural rather than artificial heat went perfectly with the gangpunggi ❤️

A Sadang Station Chinese restaurant with a dining hall and private rooms

The restaurant is a three-minute walk from Sadang Station, on the second floor of a building with an elevator ✔️

Inside, there is a dining hall and private rooms. The spacious hall suits solo diners, couples, and small gatherings, while there are several rooms that are great for groups 🖼 I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Sadang Station restaurant or a Chinese restaurant with private rooms near Sadang Station 🌟

There is a roulette wheel you can spin once through the Naver review event. The odds of getting something good seem higher than you would expect, so definitely give it a try, haha.

What I liked about my visit 😃

You can feel the skill in every dish. The truly delicious, back-to-basics jjajangmyeon and jjamppong stay on my mind, and I am excited to try the other dishes too ❤️ It is no accident that this is a popular Sadang Station restaurant, haha.

The restaurant is spacious, which makes it great for group gatherings. From the large hall to the private rooms, it is comfortable and well suited to groups near Sadang Station 👍
