I went to Doris Patisserie, Sokcho's egg tart spot ~! My friend had this saved on the map from way back, saying she wanted to try it whenever she got to Sokcho, so we went together on this trip. It's near Sokcho Central Market, so it's easy to pair with a market stroll — and best of all, it sells freshly baked, genuinely delicious egg tarts, so if you like egg tarts you have to stop by!

What's the vibe inside the store?

Since it's mostly pickup-focused, the store itself is fairly small

Doris Patisserie takes both reserved pickup and walk-in purchases — I went with a 12pm pickup reservation〰️

There's a lot of reservation info, so it might look complicated at first, but it's actually simpler than it looks!!! Forget all the details haha — just text the desired pickup date, time, and menu to the owner's number and you're done ⭐️

Reserved pickup is available every day! ✔️10:00–10:20 ✔️12:00–12:20 ✔️15:00–15:20 They take reserved-pickup customers first during these 20-minute windows, then let walk-in customers in afterward

Egg tart, financier, and madeleine boxes could be ordered as 6-piece sets~ extras could be ordered individually

Here's how to text your reservation!

‼️Reservations open at 6am the day before pickup, so I sent this the moment I woke up haha. The reply came back faster than I expected. But since I was still half-asleep, I sent the wrong menu name and had to text again lol. Make sure to double-check the menu names! ⭐️

Gorgeous desserts,,, 〰️✨ When I walked in right at 12pm, there was still plenty in stock, but with customers lining up to buy, it disappeared fast

They also sell drinks separately to go with the desserts

How to store Doris Patisserie egg tarts

I picked up egg tarts, and they're tastiest eaten crisp on the day of purchase! Both refrigeration and freezing work, and you can reheat in an air fryer or oven, but ❌ the microwave isn't recommended (the pastry goes soggy)

I brought them straight back to the accommodation to try!

The owner gave me this as a service item ㅠ_ㅠ We were originally supposed to go straight to dinner, so I thought I'd just eat two and save the rest for later! But after tasting one, we ended up opening the whole box..😂 hahahaha

When I opened it, there were even storage instructions printed inside the box! (Nice touch)

Cream cheese egg tart

My personal favorite, the cream cheese egg tart,,,,💗💗💗 At first I thought the original would be the safest, most reliably delicious choice, but after trying the cream cheese, this was the real winner,,? The subtle, nutty richness of the cream cheese adds so much and pairs incredibly well with the egg tart ㅠㅠ

Original egg tart

The original egg tart is the most classic flavor! Inside the crisp pastry shell is a soft, sweet custard filling packed to the brim — just flawless. Honestly, eating this genuinely felt like being in Macau,,,

Walnut egg tart

With nuts added, the walnut has a completely different appeal from the other egg tarts! Between the soft custard, the nutty, crunchy texture of walnuts adds a lot — if you like nuts, I think you'll really enjoy this one too!

So that was my visit to Doris Patisserie, Sokcho's egg tart spot — first of all, since it's near the popular Sokcho Central Market, it was easy to fit into the trip itinerary, and the taste rivaled the egg tarts I had in Macau! (My friend was happy every single time she ate one hahaha🍀) If you're looking for a great dessert spot at Sokcho Central Market, this is a genuine recommendation!!!
