Jeju café for Colombian Geisha coffee and levain cookies: Gluttony

In short

Gluttony Coffee is a dessert café in Ido-idong, Jeju City, a 12-minute drive from Jeju Airport, and a repeat Blue Ribbon Survey winner. Visiting around 11:30am, the writer paired levain cookies with a warm latte and iced americano, packed financiers to go, and tried the Colombian Geisha anaerobic washed pour-over. A café that gets both coffee and dessert right.

12 minutes from Jeju Airport, a café with no name on the sign

I went to Gluttony Coffee, a Jeju City café in Ido-idong near Jeju Airport (12 minutes by car) that's won the Blue Ribbon Survey award multiple years running. Talk about a hidden gem — there's no name on the sign at all. But everyone finds their way there anyway, haha?? I tried visiting once before and couldn't get in, but this time I came before noon and made it in. They open at 11, and I think I arrived around 11:30.

Gluttony Coffee, this dessert-and-coffee spot near Jeju Airport, has a fun name too — Gluttony Coffee! As in, coffee for overeating, or overdrinking? I think that's only possible because both the desserts and the coffee here are genuinely delicious.

Introduction to Colombian Geisha anaerobic washed coffee beans

Colombian Geisha anaerobic washed

Colombia Bella Alejandria Geisha Anaerobic Washed. You can try this year's new-crop Geisha coffee from the Huila region of Colombia. The herbal notes and intense bergamot come through vivid and bold, with a beautiful Earl Grey-like flavor that holds up even as it cools. A lot of people love Geisha coffee, and my wife was completely won over by its flashy flavor and acidity too. Anaerobic Washed in particular is a process similar to the washed method — where the pulp is removed from the coffee cherry before drying — except it's fermented in a sealed tank to add a distinctive aroma, hence the anaerobic washed name.

They also have menu items like espresso con panna and stracciatello, along with a range of coffee and non-coffee drinks. Hand-drip coffee is available at market price.

Financiers to go, levain cookies in-store

At Gluttony Coffee, a Blue Ribbon-winning Jeju dessert café, the financiers made with fermented gourmet butter and the levain cookies made with Belgian chocolate and unsalted fermented butter are the famous items.

We love financiers, so we packed one of each flavor to bring back to Seoul, and ordered a levain cookie alongside a warm latte and an iced americano.

The levain cookie, sliced with a stylish Laguiole cutlery set, was really delicious. Definitely worthy of that Blue Ribbon. Good thing I'd already eaten a meal beforehand... I nearly went full gluttony mode on that cookie, haha.

Latte art and plans for next visit

The carefully done latte art was lovely. My wife said she really liked the coffee's taste too. The coffee flavor itself was excellent. As lunchtime passed, more and more customers came pouring in. I heard the cake menu here is also great, so I'm already thinking I'll come back next time I'm in Jeju for espresso and cake. This café really won me over. If you're looking for a café near Jeju Airport, this one is definitely worth checking out.
