Bongcheon Station spicy baby octopus dinner for two: Sangdo Neulbori
In short
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a Korean restaurant at 379 Bongcheon-ro in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, specializing in braised pollock (kodari) and baby octopus, a 2-minute walk from Exit 5 of Bongcheon Station. Dinner here was 2 servings of stir-fried baby octopus, one order of memil jeonbyeong (buckwheat pancake rolls) and 2 bowls of rice, shared with my boyfriend. The octopus came plump under a pile of chives and rice cakes, and the self-serve bibimbap bar and free sungnyung (scorched rice tea) made it a full meal from start to finish.

A great spot to hit when you're craving spicy stir-fried baby octopus near Bongcheon Station. The octopus was big and the chives were piled on generously, so the rice kept disappearing. Today I visited Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, a baby octopus spot in Bongcheon-dong ☺️

Getting to Sangdo Neulbori was simple. Come out of Bongcheon Station Exit 5 and just cross the crosswalk — it's about a 2-minute walk, so it was easy to find 🤩

Inside Sangdo Neulbori: seating and atmosphere
The Bongcheon Station branch was bigger than I expected, and the tables had good spacing so it didn't feel cramped 😍 I thought it'd also work well for family meals, gatherings, or company dinners 🤩

What is on the menu at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch?
- Lunch special: braised pollock, baby octopus hot plate set (2+ people, until 3 PM)

Looking through the menu, there was quite a range — from braised pollock to baby octopus hot plate and stir-fried octopus 😍 Apparently the braised pollock is especially famous here, so people also come specifically for it as a braised pollock restaurant near Bongcheon Station. I'll have to try that next time.

What we ordered and the side dishes that came with it
That day at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, we ordered stir-fried baby octopus for 2, buckwheat pancake, and 2 bowls of rice.

I went through the banchan (side dishes) one by one. The seasoned soybean paste chili and the watery radish kimchi were both clean and refreshing, pairing nicely with the octopus 🧡 There were also perilla leaves and bean sprouts, which brought a whole different flavor when wrapped around the spicy octopus 🩷

Steamed egg and seaweed soup also came out, which were great for cooling down the spice in between bites 🥰 When the basic side dishes are this well put together, it really boosts overall satisfaction 🤩

Are the buckwheat pancake rolls worth adding to the order?
🥟 The buckwheat pancake (memil jeonbyeong) came with 3 pieces, more generous than I expected. It had a light, nutty buckwheat flavor, moist inside and chewy outside, easy to eat without feeling heavy 🧡 After the spicy octopus, one bite of the pancake completely shifted the flavor mood, and it worked really well together 🩷
My boyfriend, trying buckwheat pancake for the first time, said it was really good after tasting it 😍 I was glad we ordered it as a side dish ☺️

How the spicy stir-fried baby octopus tastes, and how big a portion is
Finally, the main dish arrives. At Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, the stir-fried baby octopus pieces were big and plump, looking appetizing just from the sight of it 😍 One bite in and the texture was still bouncy and fresh, while the sauce was spicy with a deep savory kick. There were rice cakes mixed in too, and chives piled generously on top, adding a fragrant note to every bite 💚
Wrapping octopus and bean sprouts in a perilla leaf softened the spiciness a bit and made the texture even richer. It's tasty on its own, but octopus really shines with rice 🧡 Piling octopus on top of rice, a whole bowl disappeared before I knew it 🍚 I get why people looking for baby octopus in Bongcheon-dong keep coming back for the stir-fried octopus 🥰

The self-serve bibimbap bar and free sungnyung
And it wasn't over yet 🤩 At the self-serve bar, there were bibimbap ingredients ready to go — fresh vegetables, young radish kimchi, bean sprouts, sesame oil, gochujang, and more 🥰 I scooped a bit of each into a bowl, mixed in some octopus, and the combination turned out to work surprisingly well 🩷🩷
With nutty sesame oil and vegetables added to the spicy octopus, I ended up enjoying every last bite ❤️ Personally, I really liked this part 🥰
To finish the meal, there was even free scorched rice tea (sungnyung), which felt filling and comforting 👍🏼 After the spicy food, finishing with warm scorched rice tea felt soothing on the stomach. I thought the whole experience, from the menu to the self-serve bar to dessert, was well put together ☺️
Would I come back to Sangdo Neulbori for baby octopus in Bongcheon-dong?
Overall, at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, I liked how big and bouncy the octopus was, and it was fun eating it with chives, perilla leaves, and bean sprouts. The buckwheat pancake was surprisingly satisfying too, and mixing octopus into bibimbap was a nice treat 🩷 A solid place to visit when you're looking for a good restaurant in Bongcheon-dong or craving something spicy 🤩
If you're specifically looking for baby octopus in Bongcheon-dong, it's worth a visit 🥰 Next time, I'll have to try the braised pollock, since this place is also known as a go-to braised pollock spot near Bongcheon Station 😍
