Sunday lunch wait at Yangju charcoal galbi restaurant Manpo Galbi
In short
Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi (short rib) restaurant on Songnang-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi. On a Sunday lunch visit for two, the meal was 2 servings of fresh galbi at ₩42,000 and 1 serving of Handon (Korean pork) handmade galbi at ₩19,000, followed by free Hamhung naengmyeon (cold noodles), iced coffee and bbeong ice cream (puffed-rice ice cream). Kids' chairs and second-floor rooms make Manpo Galbi a family spot, and since there is a wait, a Naver reservation is the better plan.

Hey everyone~ Actually, I used to be a Yangju local, you know? Ha. Every time I drove past this popular-looking BBQ place I got curious, so I finally went this weekend.
Where is Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch, and where do you park?
Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is on the 1st floor at 65 Songnang-ro, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and there's plenty of parking. It's seriously huge, right? I'd been to the vet clinic next door before, and looks like they share the lot with this place!

That said, since it's a local favorite haha, seats can fill up fast, and honestly a lot of people were waiting. You can reserve on Naver, so especially for family meals, I'd recommend booking ahead!!

Even at Sunday lunch there was a wait!! We could wait over there, haha
Why Manpo Galbi works for a Yangju family meal: rooms and kids' chairs

A hidden gem with celebrity autographs on the wall. They seated us on the 1st floor, and I went up to the 2nd.

On the way up to the 2nd floor... there was even art, and it looked really nice haha
The 2nd floor was already packed!! Super clean, right? That whole wall was all rooms, whoa
We got seated at an already-set-up table! A little corner spot, so cute haha
With this fancy Dharma jar(?) thing nearby. There was even a kids' chair. That's probably why so many people come here for family meals. Honestly like 90% of tables were families

Ta-da, the menu. What's great here is they also have rice dishes and a weekday lunch special, so if grilling meat feels like too much, or you want a side, this works great! There's also gift packaging haha

The side dishes come out so neatly, right? That potato salad was seriously good... My pick is the cucumber-pepper mix and yukjeon (pan-fried beef)! They also give you a taste of yukhoe (raw beef) for free, love it (pro tip: save a little to eat with the naengmyeon later, ha ha)
Write a review and get ₩2,000 off!!!! Love it
Charcoal-grilled fresh galbi for two and Handon handmade galbi

Our order arrived. Haha. Handon handmade galbi 1 serving (₩19,000), fresh galbi 2 servings (₩42,000)

Grilled over charcoal, it was so, so good. Being here brought back memories of coming with my parents as a kid...
They also let you take more side dishes like this!!!!!! Refill your veggies without hesitation ^_^ haha
Those are all rooms over there!! If you want a quiet, cozy family meal, booking a room seems like the way to go. Even the apron was the disposable kind I like ~_~
The guy grilling so diligently hahahaha. We started with the fresh galbi haha
Sizzling... the first bite, classic style, with salt ^___^

I still think pork tastes best with those pickled onions... The onions had zero spiciness left and they gave a generous amount!
To keep the flow going, we put the seasoned galbi on right away. And it was legendary. Next time I'm ordering only the seasoned handmade galbi!!!!! Sweet and addictive, kept reaching for more, haha
Ah, I want to eat it again already... For the seasoned galbi, I think it tastes best slightly charred haha. They also gave us the bone parts, so after grilling those the whole time, we picked at them like dessert at the end. You know that part's the tastiest, right? Heh
Ah, seriously I want to eat this again. Back in the day I'd only get this on Chuseok, but now that I'm an adult, being able to eat it whenever I want feels so nice haha. Now I'm curious about their LA galbi too
Is the Hamhung naengmyeon really free with your meat order?

This is exactly why Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is truly a foodie's hidden gem. If you eat meat, they give you free Hamhung naengmyeon (cold noodles) for dessert... My boyfriend got mul-naengmyeon (broth-based) and I got bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed). Just the right amount to eat after a meal!!

Like a proper foodie, I immediately added yukhoe to eat with it hahaha

Filling up on meat for weekend lunch felt so satisfying haha. After always going to the same old places, coming somewhere this spacious and clean was refreshing too — this is really the taste of a Gyeonggi-do BBQ restaurant, isn't it, ha

Loved that the bathroom is inside too! They even had toothpicks and dental floss hahaha. My boyfriend grabbed some and made it super obvious he'd just eaten meat, haha
For people who find going up to the 2nd floor inconvenient, they take your order in advance, and there's even air freshener available — such a thoughtful touch!!
Iced coffee cups and bbeong ice cream: dessert at Manpo Galbi

First time I've seen a place give out ice cups like this, seriously... As someone who's obsessed with iced coffee no matter the season, I'm so hyped about places like this, haha

They're really serious about dessert here... They even give you bbeong (puffed rice) ice cream!!!!!! I felt like a kid again squeezing it out neatly haha. Everyone, young and old, loves this, right? But my boyfriend piped his out so suspiciously and weirdly

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ah that's hilarious. The ice cream was really delicious though hahahaha

I saw older folks pouring themselves coffee to go! My mom would love this place too. Sorry to my boyfriend, but next time I'm coming back with my family haha
