Yangju galbi restaurant with baby chairs and ssam sides: Manpo Galbi

In short

Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is a two-floor charcoal-grilled handmade galbi restaurant on Songnang-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi. On an early weekday evening, three of us plus a baby took a first-floor window seat and ordered three servings of Korean pork handmade galbi with bowls of rice, got yukjeon (pan-fried beef) and yukhoe (raw beef) among the complimentary sides, and added extra ssam vegetables by table order. With one free bowl of house-made Hamheung naengmyeon per person and bbeongseukeurim (puffed rice with ice cream) for dessert, Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch works well for eating out with a child.

Looking for a Yangju galbi restaurant for dinner with a baby

A few days ago, my husband and I suddenly had to visit Yangju for some errands. By the time we finished, it was nearly dinner time, so I started frantically searching for a hearty, baby-friendly meat restaurant nearby where we could eat comfortably and well. That's how I found a place with not just quality charcoal-grilled galbi (Korean short ribs) but also generous free house-made naengmyeon (cold noodles). Today I'm introducing that wonderful Yangju galbi restaurant: Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch.

The two-story building of Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch

As soon as we arrived, I was surprised twice — once by the huge two-story building, and again by the enormous parking lot stretching out right in front of the restaurant. Parking is always a worry wherever we go, but here it was so easy that I felt relieved from the very start.

Spacious window-side table on the first floor, seating four comfortably

Inside, even though it was a weekday early evening, the first floor was already fully packed — the popularity was impressive. The window-side tables were spacious enough to comfortably seat four, so eating with our baby was very easy. The hall was so large it also seemed great for group gatherings or company dinners, and looking around, there were plenty of extended-family groups — people with their parents, or with young kids like us.

We ordered three servings of handmade Korean pork galbi and a bowl of rice for the baby.

Fresh yukhoe served as a basic side dish

What impressed me most was the lavish basic side dishes. Along with the usual tidy banchan (side dishes) that pair well with meat, they served fragrant yukjeon and fresh yukhoe as basic sides — I couldn't believe it! While browsing the table order screen, I noticed you could also easily add ssam vegetables, which came in handy.

The heat from the top-quality charcoal was so strong that the thick, handmade galbi turned golden brown in no time. The ribs, deeply infused with the aroma of real charcoal, were juicy and tender, melting in our mouths without any dryness.

And here's the second reason this place earned the title of the ultimate Yangju galbi restaurant, in my book: everyone ordering meat gets one free bowl per person of house-made Hamheung naengmyeon. I didn't expect much since it was free, but I was surprised twice more — it was just as good as naengmyeon you'd pay for at a famous restaurant. Here's a tip: mix the leftover yukhoe into the spicy-sweet bibim (mixed) naengmyeon, top it with a well-grilled piece of galbi, and wrap it all together. This new-style combo was absolutely the best.

Bbeongseukeurim: the puffed-rice ice cream dessert our baby loved

The third highlight is the wonderful dessert service. On our way out, full from the meal, we found a puffed-rice-and-ice-cream machine set up. They made bbeongseukeurim by piling ice cream generously on top of crispy puffed rice, and our baby was thrilled, as if she had gotten the whole world. For the adults, there were even ice cups thoughtfully provided so we could enjoy cold iced coffee — a small touch that showed real care from the owner.

Is Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch worth it with a child?

I've been to countless meat restaurants, but it's rare to be this thoroughly satisfied from the meal all the way through dessert. The generous hospitality kept us in a good mood the whole time, and I've already decided I want to bring my parents next time to try the great-value lunch special (handmade galbi set meal). If you're near Uijeongbu or Yangju and want to properly enjoy quality charcoal-grilled galbi and hearty naengmyeon with your family, I highly recommend this outstanding Yangju galbi restaurant, Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch!

  • Oak charcoal galbi and a generous spread: carefully selected, 100% rib cuts grilled over charcoal for juicy handmade galbi, plus yukjeon and yukhoe included as basic sides.
  • Free house-made Hamheung naengmyeon: one chewy bowl per person, free of charge, made even better topped with leftover yukhoe and galbi for a fantastic combo.
  • Touching dessert and convenience: sweet bbeongseukeurim that won our baby over, cold ice-cup coffee, and a huge stress-free private parking lot — a top spot for family dining.
