Family-friendly kalguksu restaurant in Hwaseong: Jedam Kalguksu
In short
Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch is a seafood kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant that has been running in Hyangnam-eup, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi for over 11 years. Visiting with a child, three of us ordered Set A (seafood kalguksu + seafood pajeon, ₩45,000 for two) with clear broth, eating the seafood first before adding the handmade noodles. With a whole second floor of spacious seated dining, parking right outside, and baby chairs on hand, it's an easy pick for family meals or group gatherings.

A kalguksu spot worth the trip in Hyangnam: Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch

⏰ Hours Daily 10:30 - 21:00 (last order 20:30) Open year-round ✅ Naver Reservation available

🅿️ Parking available in front of the building
We stopped here for dinner on our way back from the Songsan Grape Festival — a well-loved seafood kalguksu spot in Hyangnam called 'Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch.'
The navigation app lists it as Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch, but the actual sign reads 'Jecheoldameun Haemul Kalguksu' (seafood kalguksu made with seasonal ingredients), which can be confusing. If you see the sign in the photo above, you're in the right place!

Menu and prices at Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch
✔️ Menu & prices at Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch, a seafood kalguksu spot in Hyangnam There was a standing sign outside the entrance, and true to a seafood kalguksu specialty restaurant, the main menu was pleasantly simple. Seafood kalguksu / Seafood sujebi / Clam kalguksu You can choose clear or spicy broth, and since the clam kalguksu can be ordered as a single portion, it looked like a fine choice for solo diners too.
Every menu item is available for takeout and delivery app orders, and meal kits can also be ordered through Naver Smart Store. You can easily enjoy fresh seasonal seafood and chewy handmade noodles at home, delivered right to your door!

A second-floor seated space great for visiting with kids
The restaurant uses the entire second floor, so the interior is spacious with plenty of tables and a generous seated floor area as well. There were plenty of baby chairs on hand, and disposable bibs were provided too, which I appreciated for hygiene.
Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch has even appeared on comedian Kim Soo-young's YouTube channel, Nolgo Meokgo Jago (Play, Eat, Sleep)!

The basic setting comes with just fresh cabbage geotjeori (lightly seasoned cabbage kimchi), but the self-serve bar has aged kimchi and pickled radish too, which is great for those who don't like geotjeori or for kids who can't handle spicy kimchi.

How to enjoy the handmade seafood kalguksu
✔️ How to enjoy the handmade seafood kalguksu at Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch! When you order seafood kalguksu, you don't get the noodles right away — first you eat the squid, octopus, and other seafood, and then when you call the staff, they bring out the handmade noodles separately. There's a detailed guide on the wall about how to enjoy the kalguksu best, so it's worth reading before the food arrives.

Set A, ordered for the three of us
The three of us ordered Set A. Set A Seafood kalguksu + seafood pajeon ₩45,000 for two Ordering the set menu made it ₩2,000 cheaper than ordering each item separately. Actually, we hadn't noticed the set menu and had ordered seafood kalguksu for two plus a separate pajeon, but the staff cleverly entered it as Set A anyway. Nice call, boss!

Seafood pajeon
The seafood kalguksu and seafood pajeon came out almost at the same time. The pajeon passed the visual test even before we tasted it — it came pre-cut into easy-to-eat pieces. Packed with shrimp, squid, and vegetables, the savory flavor was incredible, and the crispy outside with the moist, plump seafood inside made for amazing texture too. We figured we'd take home whatever we couldn't finish since the noodle portion was so big, but... we ended up polishing off the entire pancake right there.

Clear broth + self-serve cheongyang chili and chili paste
I was craving the spicy broth, but since we came with a child, we went with clear broth instead. Looking back, that turned out to be the right call — adding cheongyang chili and chili paste from the self-serve bar meant we basically got to taste both the clear and spicy versions at once!

I couldn't believe how generous the portion was for two. Even though it's packed with squid, webfoot octopus, shrimp, clams, and other seafood, everything was so fresh there was zero fishy taste, and the flavor only got better the longer it simmered.

We quickly ate all the seafood first, then asked for the noodles.

Since the noodles are handmade fresh in-house, they were really chewy and springy, soaking up all the savory broth beautifully with zero flour-ish taste. We ate every last bite happily!
A solid choice for family meals and group gatherings
Jedam Kalguksu has been steadily beloved in the Hyangnam area for over 11 years, serving hearty meals built on fresh ingredients and honest flavor! With its spacious, comfortable interior and convenient parking, it's an easy choice for family meals, group gatherings, or work dinners — I'm happy to introduce 'Jedam Kalguksu Hyangnam Branch.'
