Today I'm reviewing Chowon Restaurant, a famous outdoor tent BBQ spot in Jongno 3-ga! The weather's gotten so nice lately that eating outside just feels amazing haha. I was already in Jongno and went looking for an outdoor BBQ place, which is how I ended up here. Honestly, a perfect score..! Outdoor dining is always the right call lol. It matched this weather perfectly 💚 Let's get into my review of Chowon Restaurant Jongno 3-ga Branch, which I really loved!

Chowon Restaurant is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 5 of Jongno 3-ga Station — really great accessibility!
Besides the outdoor seats, there's indoor seating too. Just because it's famous for its outdoor tent doesn't mean that's all it has — there are proper indoor seats further inside!

And the outdoor tent seating at Chowon Restaurant has this little touch of atmosphere..💚 I wanted to sit outside so I timed my arrival right at 5pm on the weekend, and even then I got the very last outdoor seat lol. It's way more popular than I expected! If you want an outdoor seat without waiting, I'd recommend showing up right at opening time. Also, outdoor seating is limited to 90 minutes, so keep that in mind when you visit.
Green onion kimchi and bracken fern among the free side dishes
Once you order, the basic side dishes come out first, and I noticed green onion kimchi and bracken fern (dried fernbrake) among them! I really love BBQ places that serve green onion kimchi and bracken fern, so this place had already won me over just with the side dishes lol.
Frozen pork belly for two, served in an ice-chilled jar
The meat I ordered arrived! They brought it out in a jar, and the jar itself was actually kept frozen so the meat wouldn't thaw too fast — such a thoughtful little detail, I loved it haha.
Put the meat on the grill along with garlic, green onion kimchi, kimchi, bean sprouts, and bracken fern, and it's complete..💛
A truly delicious spread came together!
Meat enjoyed outdoors is always the right call..😍 With the wall of Tapgol Park right in front of us, eating while looking at the pretty wall and feeling the cool breeze made for such a great vibe.

The meat tasted even better than I expected! Honestly, at other places famous for outdoor BBQ, I've sometimes been disappointed by the meat quality, but here, even though it's frozen pork belly, it wasn't tough at all — grilled and eaten right away, it was tender and delicious! Especially eating it together with the grilled bracken fern and green onion kimchi — that combo was the absolute best 👍🏻

Steamed egg as a side: light and just right
I also ordered a steamed egg to try. It was completely fluffy and just the right seasoning — delicious! When ordering doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) feels like a bit much, but skipping a side entirely feels a little lacking, steamed egg is the perfect choice!
While eating, I looked around and noticed a bunch of sparrows perched up on the wall lol. Watching the sparrows huddled together while eating made everything feel even more relaxed and pleasant 🐦

Just about 30 minutes after opening, a wait had already formed. There really is a reason places get this popular lol. Thanks to that, I got to properly enjoy the outdoor BBQ vibe with a cool breeze 💚 Great meat, great atmosphere, and on top of it all, perfect weather that day! If you're looking for an outdoor BBQ spot in Jongno 3-ga, I think Chowon Restaurant is worth a visit~! Thanks for the meal today! 💃
