Pork half-platter dinner with kids at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang, Wonju
In short
Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Enterprise City Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Wonju, Gangwon, serving a pork half-platter (samgyeopsal, mokssal, kkeophangjeong, gabrisal) all on one plate. The writer brought her kid along, ordered a children's miyeokguk (seaweed soup) with rice, and got a solid 30 minutes to eat thanks to a huge kids' playroom with CCTV visible from the tables. Between the wide side-dish spread, unlimited doenjang jjigae, and 4 hours of free parking, it's an easy pick for family meals or group dinners.

Today I'm bringing you a review of Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang, a Wonju Enterprise City restaurant I'd strongly recommend for family meals or any kind of group gathering!

When eating out with kids, you care about the taste of the meat but also the facilities and the overall vibe of the place, right?! Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang, a Wonju Enterprise City spot I visit all the time, has both juicy premium meat and a perfect large kids' zone, so the whole family leaves satisfied 👍

What cuts come in the pork half-platter?
The pork half-platter comes with samgyeopsal (pork belly), mokssal (pork neck), kkeophangjeong (pork jowl skin), and gabrisal (pork shoulder blade). Getting to eat so many different cuts on one plate is a huge perk! 👍 It looks moist even before grilling — and it's even juicier once cooked.

Everything delicious goes straight onto the grill. Eating it with minari (water celery), pineapple, and mushrooms makes the pork even tastier.

Side dishes that put fancy Korean set-meal restaurants to shame
Personally, I think the highlight of Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang is the variety of banchan (side dishes) — they're so diverse and delicious, they could put a proper hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant to shame.

How big is the restaurant, and what about parking?
This Wonju Enterprise City restaurant is really spacious! And clean too. Whether you're with kids, family, or a guest you want to treat well, it's a comfortable place to eat with anyone! And the kids' zone is so big that anyone with children absolutely can't skip this place.
Parking is also very generous and free for 4 hours, so there's nothing to worry about there either.

If you make a reservation on Naver in advance and visit, the side dishes are already set out for you. There's scallion salad, seasoned lettuce, onion soy sauce, gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), pa kimchi (scallion kimchi), lotus root salad, and more — but the best of the bunch has to be the seasoned crab and the unlimited doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). They're inseparable from pork, after all 👍
Pork half-platter / Children's miyeokguk + rice / Fanta
Besides miyeokguk, the kids' menu also has jjajang rice :) They have seasoned pork ribs too, in case that's useful info! 👍

A serving robot brings the meat
As soon as we ordered, we cranked up the grill heat. Then after a short wait, a serving robot brought the meat over 👍 The kids thought that was fascinating and fun too.

A plate of the pork half-platter arrived, covered with the side vegetables :)

After clearing away the pineapple, minari, and mushrooms, out came kkeophangjeong, gabrisal, samgyeopsal, and ogyeopsal (extra-fatty pork belly). The meat looks so fresh with that bright red color, even raw! If pork tartare exists, it'd probably look something like this.

The tasty bits go straight onto the grill, quick..👍

Banchan refills at the self-serve bar
Oh! If you need refills on side dishes, or need myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves), kimchi, or bean sprouts, just use the self-serve bar right across from the counter. There's also ice cream next to the self-serve bar later, so make use of that too.
It grills up nicely golden and moist. The seafood-based sauce reduces down to just the right thickness, and the meat gets sliced into good thick pieces for grilling.

Ogyeopsal and samgyeopsal get cut into bite-size pieces, while kkeophangjeong and gabrisal are mostly left uncut, or cut just once at most. That's what makes them really delicious 👍

One more close-up look at the good stuff.

Kkeophangjeong — even just with salt, it's a steak
I wanted to pop the tasty stuff in my mouth first. So I quickly grabbed the kkeophangjeong, where fatty and lean flavors burst together at once, with that amazing chewy-crispy texture. Turning something into such a fancy bite with just a dip of salt... this really wasn't an exaggeration to call it steak.

Eaten with the seasoned lettuce, the savory flavor mixes with the fresh vegetables and becomes the kind of taste that makes you crave a beer.

The mokssal is lean but moist too :)
The ogyeopsal and samgyeopsal had a great balance of leanness and savory fat. We kept them on the stone plate on the grill so they wouldn't burn too much 👍 Don't overcook the minari either. And dipped in salt, it puts a barbecue joint to shame.

Wasabi and salt are the truth combo.

The miyeokguk ordered for my kid's dinner
Miyeokguk. Today it felt a little under-cooked haha... a bit of a fresher-tasting seaweed feel, but it was still a hearty dinner for the kids. It seemed to have Hanwoo (Korean beef) in it. There was a slight beef-stock-seasoning flavor too, but that goes well with miyeokguk anyway, right?

The rice was packed in pretty firmly too, so even after feeding some to my little one, this much was left over. I mixed it well into the doenjang jjigae.
And rice with meat is just the truth. Put a piece of garlic braised in the sauce on top and eat it with the kkeophangjeong, and you'll feel like — this is what healing feels like!

The slightly fattier cuts of meat go really well with the sauce and wasabi :)

Random thought, but... I'd love to eat this as gimbap too...? I wish there was a lunchbox version like this.

Having a perfect dessert on top of all this?! Yogurt ice cream.
The large kids' room with visible CCTV
Ah!!! The kids' room at the Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Enterprise City branch was genuinely bigger and cleaner than any other restaurant's. Maybe that's why my little one headed straight for the kids' room the moment we walked in. So I let her play there for about 30 minutes! And in that time, I got to eat!!!!!!!!!! The reason I could do that is there's CCTV that lets you see inside the kids' room from outside, so I could check whether my kid was playing well even while eating 👍 If you have kids, this is a Wonju Enterprise City restaurant you absolutely have to visit — highly recommend.
