Autumn fig cream pie and decaf americano at Hippy, a Jeonpo café

There are so many charming cafés in Jeonpo that it's hard to decide where to go. This time I finally visited a cream pie specialty café I'd been curious about for a while — Hippy.

Hippy is known for its cream pies, and apparently the lineup changes with the seasons. In autumn you can try fig pie, and in winter, strawberry pie — great news if you love seasonal desserts.

From the brick building to the cozy interior, the range of pies, and even the annex space, there was a lot to look at. Here's my visit to Hippy, a Jeonpo café.

Hippy, a cream pie café in a brick building

Walking through the alleys of Jeonpo, you keep noticing these charming little spaces. Hippy, too, is housed in a brick building, so the exterior already had a warm, cozy feel.

I was intrigued by the fact that it's a café specializing in cream pie — not just a place for coffee and dessert, but somewhere built around pie with a variety of menu items.

It seemed like a great spot for anyone looking for a dessert café in Jeonpo or wanting to try something special. We walked in, already excited about which pie to choose.

Inside Hippy: the pie case and what is on it

Inside, green plants were placed all around, and the display case held several kinds of cream pie — chestnut pie, sweet corn pie, basil tomato pie, and more. Once we stepped in, the plants made the space feel even cozier and warmer.

While looking around the café, the little decor pieces here and there caught my eye too. The pies in the display case especially looked so good.

From chestnut pie to sweet corn pie and basil tomato pie, each one seemed to have its own personality, and I wanted to try them all.

If you love dessert, you'll probably find yourself standing in front of the case trying to decide. We ended up picking the fig pie, which is only available in autumn.

I like figs, and seasonal desserts can be hard to catch outside their window, so we decided to try it while we could. Hippy changes its pie menu by season — fig pie in autumn, strawberry pie in winter.

For drinks, we chose a decaf iced americano and a warm Marco Polo rouge. It was nice that they had tea options alongside coffee.

Hippy's annex and outdoor seats, with a European feel

Beyond the main café, Hippy has a separate annex space and outdoor seating outside. After ordering, I looked around a bit more and found some pretty candles for sale on one side.

They'd be nice to have on hand for birthdays or anniversaries.

Walking around and taking it all in, the annex looked like a good spot for a group visit too.

It seemed like a great fit for hangouts with friends or special occasions like birthday parties. There were outdoor seats too, so on a nice day it would be lovely to spend time outside.

The outdoor seating gave off a vibe like some small café in Europe. Looking at such a pretty space, I suddenly felt like taking a trip somewhere.

How does Hippy's autumn fig cream pie taste?

Hippy's fig cream pie is an autumn-only menu item topped with whipped cream and figs. The cream wasn't too sweet, so the fig flavor really came through. By the time we finished looking around, our order had already arrived.

With the fig cream pie, decaf iced americano, and warm Marco Polo rouge all laid out together, it looked beautiful.

The fig cream pie especially won me over on looks alone, with whipped cream and figs piled on top. The color of the figs against the soft cream made for a mouthwatering visual.

A staff member told us to eat the pie, cream, and fig together in one bite. Eating it that way, all the flavors came together really harmoniously.

What I liked most was that the cream wasn't overly sweet. The soft cream and the distinct flavor of the fig went really well together.

I got to enjoy the natural taste of the fig along with the pie's texture, and it was satisfying.

Final thoughts on Hippy, a Jeonpo cream pie café

This visit to Hippy in Jeonpo let me enjoy both a variety of cream pies and a really charming space. I ordered the fig cream pie, only available in autumn, and the not-too-sweet cream paired nicely with the fig — it was delicious.

The plant-filled interior and the brick building's atmosphere were great, and it was fun exploring the annex and outdoor seats too. There were so many kinds of pie that next time I'd love to come with more people and try a few different ones.

Apparently strawberry pie is on the menu in winter, so I'll have to come back once the season changes.
