Before Mentsuru: a few rough days that led to a ramen dinner

Mentsuru near Children's Grand Park Station: peak hours mean a bar seat

A restaurant that makes you laugh even when the world is out to get you — Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch, the ramen spot by Children's Grand Park Station. I went during peak hours, it was packed, and I got seated at the bar.

Skipping Ichiran and going to Mentsuru, the ramen spot near Children's Grand Park instead (not because I can't afford plane tickets, seriously not)

I can never skip a photo review but these past few days the universe has been so rough on me that I've gotten weirdly patient with minor annoyances. The fried gyoza is pretty big though..

Why Mentsuru's bar seats suit solo diners: a phone holder at each spot

Every bar seat at Mentsuru comes with a built-in phone holder. Looked like a lot of people were solo dining with a "meal buddy" playing on their phones.

So cute (seems like a lot of people prop up their phones with a "meal buddy" video and eat solo)

What we ordered at Mentsuru: tori paitan, abura soba and ramune

Everyone knows white clothes are the unspoken rule for ramen day but I wore black, ugh If you're wearing white, definitely bring an apron.

How to drink ramune: push the marble down

The ramune we ordered at Mentsuru is the kind where you press the cap's marble down before drinking. My brother said it's basically like Japan's version of Chilsung Cider.

Bought my brother Starbucks too, to encourage him to work hard (kind of regretting it now) The new Starbucks menu is the sweet potato latte with pearls kinda meh All hail Gong Cha.
