Gwangjin ramen with marble-pop ramune: tori paitan at Mentsuru

In short

Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch is a Japanese ramen restaurant at 394 Gwangnaru-ro in Gwangjin, Seoul. Arriving at peak hours, the writer was shown to a bar seat — every bar seat has a phone holder, so plenty of solo diners were eating alone — and ordered tori paitan, abura soba, fried gyoza and a ramune soda you open by pushing the marble down. The verdict: a restaurant that makes you smile even when the world keeps kicking you around.

Before Mentsuru: a few rough days that led to a ramen dinner

Everyday photo opening the part-time job story

I might get fired from my part-time job (still not confirmed) I've been singing "I want to quit" for days now... Guess I really need to watch what I say.

A broken dishwasher
Looks like Wreck-It Ralph smashed this dishwasher

Honestly I probably deserve to get fired I'm about to earn ₩50,000 and spend ₩400,000 Daily wage: -₩350,000

A game screen capture
Got the buffet too, so why just me

I won so I'm just gonna log off Heard there's a lot of controversy about the outfit please look away. haha

Screen related to video editing work

The video I'm handing in is 5 minutes long but it took 5 hours to edit I wonder if my coach knows,,,, Thanks anyway even if you don't.

Mentsuru near Children's Grand Park Station: peak hours mean a bar seat

A restaurant that makes you laugh even when the world is out to get you — Mentsuru Children's Grand Park Branch, the ramen spot by Children's Grand Park Station. I went during peak hours, it was packed, and I got seated at the bar.

Skipping Ichiran and going to Mentsuru, the ramen spot near Children's Grand Park instead (not because I can't afford plane tickets, seriously not)

Went at peak time, so it was crowded Got seated at the bar

I can never skip a photo review but these past few days the universe has been so rough on me that I've gotten weirdly patient with minor annoyances. The fried gyoza is pretty big though..

Why Mentsuru's bar seats suit solo diners: a phone holder at each spot

Every bar seat at Mentsuru comes with a built-in phone holder. Looked like a lot of people were solo dining with a "meal buddy" playing on their phones.

It's a phone holder apparently..

So cute (seems like a lot of people prop up their phones with a "meal buddy" video and eat solo)

What we ordered at Mentsuru: tori paitan, abura soba and ramune

What we ordered at Mentsuru: abura soba, tori paitan, and ramune. The abura soba is bibim-noodle style, the tori is the pale white-ish style (?).

Abura soba, bibim-noodle style Tori is the pale white-ish style (?) Will show you the ramune later lol

Once it arrives you can mix it all together lol

Everyone knows white clothes are the unspoken rule for ramen day but I wore black, ugh If you're wearing white, definitely bring an apron.

How to drink ramune: push the marble down

The ramune we ordered at Mentsuru is the kind where you press the cap's marble down before drinking. My brother said it's basically like Japan's version of Chilsung Cider.

According to my brother it's like Japan's Chilsung Cider? or something

Press it down and the marble drops

and then apparently you drink it

Mentsuru's tori paitan: milky white and deeply rich

After Mentsuru: a new Starbucks drink and Loco on repeat

New Starbucks sweet potato latte menu item

Bought my brother Starbucks too, to encourage him to work hard (kind of regretting it now) The new Starbucks menu is the sweet potato latte with pearls kinda meh All hail Gong Cha.

My professor showed us a Loco clip during class and now I'm a fan too Is this just marketing at this point?
