Ttukseom night bar with plum whisky and peanut ice cream: Mellows
In short
Mellows is a café-by-day, bar-by-night spot right in front of exits 1 to 8 of Ttukseom Station in Seongdong, Seoul. After tacos on a Seongsu date, the writer ordered the Plum Plum whisky, peanut ice cream and orange cinnamon at Mellows, and the owner added a kalimotxo on the house. The sweet, nutty ice cream with the bright plum whisky made Mellows a good place for a light late-night drink.

Stopping by Mellows on a Seongsu date night
We stumbled on Mellows Seongsu while out on a date in Seongsu. We'd had tacos for dinner and were a little peckish — I was craving coffee, my husband wanted a drink — and we found the perfect spot for both 🤭

A café by day, a bar by night at Ttukseom Station
Mellows also has café-style desserts near Ttukseom Station. It runs as a café during the day and switches to bar-and-café mode at night. Look at the illustrations on the menu — the owner's taste is amazing 🍾 Even I, who barely know whisky, could get a sense of the flavors just from the menu's little pictures (haha).

Seating and atmosphere inside Mellows
Mellows Seongsu has bar seats by the window and regular tables, plus a few tables out on the terrace — which were already packed with people having a drink. They looked like regulars who were close with the owner, and the vibe was really nice.

Plum Plum whisky, peanut ice cream and orange cinnamon
- Plum Plum 🍹
- Peanut ice cream 🍦
- Orange cinnamon 🍊
It was too late in the evening for coffee, so I went with ice cream instead — whisky and ice cream turned out to pair really well. My husband picked a whisky with plum flavor, and I went for the peanut-topped peanut ice cream. For a light snack we picked the orange cinnamon 🍊🍊 It was an unfamiliar name, so I asked the owner, who said it's a snack GD (G-Dragon) reportedly loves.
The plum whisky had a subtle, tart-sweet plum flavor layered with the whisky's aroma, and it came out much cleaner than I expected. Instead of feeling heavy or too strong, it was refreshing and easy to drink, which paired nicely with dessert too.
Then came the peanut ice cream I'd been looking forward to 🥜 Nutty peanut ice cream piled high with peanut crunch — the texture alone was great. The ice cream itself was rich and nutty, and the bits of peanut kept pulling me back for more.
The sweet, nutty ice cream against the bright, slightly bitter plum whisky made a surprisingly great combo. Both are easy things to enjoy while just soaking up the atmosphere, so they'd work well as a light dessert at a café or bar 🤎

There was a poster for other ice cream flavors, and the affogato soft serve looked delicious too. Why didn't I notice that while ordering ㅠㅠ

Which ice cream flavors does Mellows serve?
Soft, smooth soft serve with thick peanut butter — a milk-and-peanut combo you can't go wrong with. This café's ice cream comes in flavors like original, strawberry, mango, matcha, and more. The 'Sangha Farm ice cream' on the drinks menu is apparently served in a big size, more like a bar snack!
The snack GD reportedly loves — the orange cinnamon I'd been curious about! Prepped fresh orange topped generously with cinnamon powder, perfect as a drinking snack. It's like a finger food that's easy to enjoy even when you're already full.

The free kalimotxo from the owner
And an off-menu item — kalimotxo! The owner poured us a glass on the house! Kalimotxo is apparently cola mixed with red wine 1:1. It tasted like a cold mulled wine, and even for someone who knows nothing about wine, it was delicious >_<
I could see why the regulars were so close with the owner. I asked a lot of questions since I don't know much about drinks, and he kindly explained everything while smiling the whole time — it left a real impression. A place that makes you feel this good, I think I'll be back often.
Mellows is located right in front of exits 1-8 of Ttukseom Station.
