There's something about jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) that makes me crave them on a cycle, but it's gotten harder to find a good Chinese restaurant these days, ugh. In Bangi-dong, though, there's a place that solves that problem! ! !
Where is Jjambbongwan Seoul Bangi Branch, and what are its hours?
Jjambbongwan Seoul Bangi Branch is a made-to-order jjambbong specialist located at 13 Yangjaedae-ro 71-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, 1st floor. It's close to Bangi Station and Olympic Park, so it's easy to get to.

The sign catches your eye right away — "Made-to-Order Jjambbong Specialist."

From 6-8pm they run a ₩2,500 soju and beer deal, which also makes it perfect as a Bangi drinking spot.

The chalkboard by the door said "unlimited rice, unlimited drinks," which was great because I could eat without worrying about ordering extra rice. Hours run from 11am to 1am (last order), so it's a comfortable time slot whenever you go.

Before going in, I checked the menu board and the variety was really impressive.
- Dishes: sweet and sour pork, Sichuan sweet and sour pork, yurinki (Chinese-style fried chicken), ganpunggi, ganpung shrimp, cream shrimp, yangjangpi
- Meals: jjambbong, soft tofu jjambbong, chashu jjambbong, chadol (beef brisket) jjambbong, mala jjambbong, jjambbong rice, jjajangmyeon, crab fried rice, japchae rice
Inside the restaurant and the free self-serve café
The interior of Jjambbongwan Seoul Bangi Branch has generous spacing between tables, and since ordering is done via kiosk, it was convenient to sit down, look at photos, and order.

Jjambbongwan Bangi Branch even runs a free café! Are they really allowed to give this much away, ugh haha.

There's a restroom inside the store too, which somehow made me like the place even more haha haha.
Kiosk ordering: how many jjambbong spice levels are there?

When I picked jjambbong on the kiosk at Jjambbongwan Seoul Bangi Branch, a spice level option came up — from Basic (nicely spicy) to Level 1 Hot, Level 2 Crazy Spicy, and Level 3 Fire Spicy, so you can choose to your taste, which I liked.

The jjajangmyeon also lets you choose a spice level, so people who want to enjoy a spicy black bean noodle version would be satisfied too.

The dishes also come in mini, small, and medium sizes, which is nice to have options.

For anyone who wants extra jjambbong broth, there's a side menu item for that too!

I ordered three things: jjambbong, jjajangmyeon, and yurinki (mini). Jjambbong ₩11,000 / jjajangmyeon ₩8,000 / yurinki (mini) ₩14,000... the prices were reasonable too.
Self-serve corner and side dishes
The self-serve corner had everything — apron, tongs, scissors, plus onions, pickled radish, white kimchi, kimchi, rice, and more... nothing was missing!

While waiting for my order, I grabbed pickled radish, onion, and white kimchi from the self-serve corner myself. Onions and jjajang sauce were also self-serve, so I could adjust to my taste.

Utensil holders were set out on every table too, so there was no need to ask separately, which was convenient.
How did the jjambbong, jjajangmyeon and yurinki taste?

The menu said the jjambbong is stir-fried at over 200 degrees with fresh seafood and vegetables for a spicy yet clean flavor, and it really did taste like something they could be proud of.

There was a lot of seafood — scallops, mussels — and none of it was under-cleaned!

Maybe because it's stir-fried at over 200 degrees, the jjajangmyeon had a strong smoky wok-hei flavor, packed with plenty of meat and vegetables. The noodles were nice and chewy too, great for mixing.

I grabbed some rice from the self-serve corner and tried a spoonful with the jjajang sauce too. Delicious, as expected.

The yurinki had crispy batter topped with red chili and cheongyang chili peppers, so I could enjoy it spicy without it feeling greasy.

The sweet and tangy sauce paired well with the fried chicken, making it a fine drinking snack too.

With a glass of Terra beer alongside, the greasiness disappeared and it felt refreshing to eat.
