Seoul Korean BBQ in Bangi-dong: extra gopchang for three at Jinseong
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a hanwoo beef gopchang, daechang and makchang restaurant in the Bangi food alley in Songpa, Seoul. On a weekday evening three of us ordered one portion each of gopchang, daechang and makchang at 19,000 won apiece, added a second round of gopchang and finished with kkakdugi yangbap, with the staff grilling everything at the table. Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang has queues even on weekdays, so a Naver reservation, available until 6pm, is the way to go.

Here's my review of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, a beef gopchang (grilled beef small intestine) spot I recommend near Bangi Food Alley by Bangi Station. I went on a weekday evening craving gopchang, and even then the place had a wait — it's clearly a well-known spot. If you're looking for beef gopchang in Bangi-dong, go in expecting a wait during dinner peak hours.

Where is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, and how long is the weekday wait?

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch isn't hard to find as you walk through Bangi Food Alley. Even though we came on a weekday evening, the place was already packed inside. It really lives up to being a popular spot, busy even on weekday evenings.
The wait works by standing outside the shop, and if you arrive after 6pm, waiting seems basically required! There were plenty of parties waiting while we were eating.
What the dining room feels like (and does it smell of smoke?)
The interior was cleaner than I expected, with fairly spacious tables. Maybe thanks to the open-air terrace, it didn't have that overwhelming greasy smell typical of gopchang restaurants, making it a good spot for a meal with friends or a few drinks.
If you're worried about smell sticking to your clothes, they have big plastic bags ready for storing your things, which was convenient. Given the nature of Bangi-dong's food alley, the whole area feels lively in the evening, making it a great spot for dinner or drinks after work.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang menu and prices

The menu is actually pretty simple. They focus on hanwoo gopchang, hanwoo daechang, and hanwoo makchang, with kkakdugi yangbap and anchovy noodle soup as dessert menu items. Current prices are around ₩19,000 for hanwoo gopchang, ₩19,000 for hanwoo daechang, ₩19,000 for hanwoo makchang, and ₩9,000 for kkakdugi yangbap.
If you like gopchang, I'd recommend ordering daechang or makchang alongside it so you can compare textures! The three of us ordered one gopchang, one makchang, and one daechang, but it was so good we added another gopchang and finished with kkakdugi yangbap too..🥺
Side dishes and the staff grilling at your table

When you order, the gopchang comes with side dishes like kimchi, chives, potatoes, and rice cakes. The kimchi especially paired well with the gopchang. It's tasty on its own, but grilling it on the pan and lightly cooking it in the oil from the gopchang made it even better.
Steamed egg also came as a complimentary service, which was nice to nibble on while waiting for the gopchang. But the best part was that the staff grilled everything for us themselves. Gopchang can easily end up burnt outside and undercooked or chewy inside if the timing is off, but with the staff handling the grilling, we could just eat comfortably.
Gopchang vs daechang vs makchang: how the three cuts taste

There's clearly a reason this place is known as a top beef gopchang spot in Bangi-dong. Jinseong's gopchang is packed full inside, so the first bite delivers a proper savory flavor. The outside grills up golden and crispy while the inside stays savory and tender, making it a great pairing with drinks.
Eating kimchi or chives alongside the gopchang cuts through the richness, so I kept reaching for more. Daechang is oilier and softer than gopchang, while makchang has a stronger chewy texture — personally, ordering all three mixed together felt the most satisfying.

Finishing with kkakdugi yangbap (radish kimchi fried rice)
And at the end, I recommend the kkakdugi yangbap. Even when you're pretty full, there's somehow still room for fried rice. The combination of leftover savory oil from the gopchang with kkakdugi made it a perfect finishing dish🤤
