A weekday wine dinner near Apgujeong Station
On a weekday at 6:30 PM, we visited Geullodeu, a well-known Sinsa-dong wine bar near Apgujeong, for dinner for two.

It's a wine dining bar located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a chef formerly of a Michelin one-star restaurant cooks seasonal ingredients over charcoal.

Rather than a place for a light glass of wine, it felt closer to a dining spot for slowly enjoying food and wine together, and the calm, formal atmosphere was clear from the moment we walked in.

Inside Geullodeu: interior and seating
Inside, Geullodeu's white-toned tables and soft lighting worked well together.

It wasn't overly flashy — more a space made for focusing on the food and conversation — and the tables weren't cramped together.

The window-side seats offered a view through the full-length glass, and it was interesting how the mood shifted little by little as the evening went on.
Visiting on a weekday evening for two, the overall quiet and put-together feel made it seem well suited to a day when the atmosphere matters, like an anniversary or a date.
What we ordered at Geullodeu and what it cost
Today we ordered the charcoal-grilled scallops (₩24,000), bone marrow with white bread (₩32,000), the seasonal tomato dish (₩18,000), and Champagne.

Geullodeu's menu, from starters to small dishes and mains, is built mostly around food that pairs well with wine.

We chose dishes with very different personalities — seafood, Korean beef bone marrow, and refreshing tomato — so nothing tipped too heavily toward one flavor, making it easy to enjoy slowly with Champagne.
Charcoal-grilled scallops, 24,000 won
The scallop dish came with two charcoal-grilled scallops, potato confit purée, clam X.O sauce, and seasonal herbs.
The first thing I noticed was the subtle charcoal aroma. The surface had lively flavor while the inside stayed moist, and the soft potato confit purée supported the scallop's clean taste.

The clam X.O sauce added savory depth so the plate never felt one-note, and pairing it with Champagne's crisp bubbles made the scallop taste even cleaner.

Of everything we ordered that day, this pairing with Champagne stuck with me the most.
Korean beef bone marrow with white bread, 32,000 won
The bone marrow and white bread dish came with Korean beef bone marrow, four pieces of white bread, smoked mascarpone butter, and seasonal herbs.

This dish had a noticeably richer, more intense flavor than the scallops.

Spreading the bone marrow on warm white bread with a bit of smoked mascarpone butter gave a long, nutty finish.

Since the dish was so rich, sipping Champagne in between was great for resetting the palate.

Seasonal tomato dish, 18,000 won
The seasonal tomato dish came with arugula salad, tomato gel, red radish, mozzarella cream, peach jelly, and peach pickle.

The tomato's freshness was rounded out by the soft texture of the mozzarella cream, while the peach jelly and pickle brought subtle sweetness and acidity.
After the rich flavor of the bone marrow especially, adding the tomato made my palate feel light again.
All three dishes went in different flavor directions, which made it fun to share and compare bites.
Pairing the Geullodeu menu with Champagne
We ordered Champagne to go with the meal. Once the bottle and glasses were on the table, the atmosphere of this Sinsa-dong wine bar felt even more distinct.

Watching the bubbles rise in the glass while eating slowly gave a feeling clearly different from an ordinary dinner.

It brought freshness to the scallops and cut through the richness of the bone marrow, working well with each dish in a different way.

Cooking by a chef from a Michelin one-star restaurant
Geullodeu doesn't stop at being just a nice-looking Apgujeong wine bar — the food itself is given real weight.

With a chef formerly of a Michelin one-star restaurant focusing on seasonal ingredients and charcoal cooking, each plate was full of character — the charcoal aroma of the scallops, the rich depth of the bone marrow, the freshness of the tomato.

Even with sauces and ingredients layered together, each component's character wasn't lost, making it enjoyable to slowly compare flavors alongside the wine.
How the service felt at Geullodeu
The service matched the atmosphere well. Explanations of the food and wine were given calmly, and staff naturally took care of anything needed during the meal, making it easy to relax.

It wasn't overly casual, but it also wasn't stiffly formal, which made it easy for the two of us to talk and enjoy the evening.

Beyond the atmosphere and food, the service made it clear why this is a good choice for a day when every detail matters.

Geullodeu, a well-known Sinsa-dong wine bar near Apgujeong, felt better suited to a day when you want to slowly enjoy food and wine together rather than just have a quick, light drink.

Visiting on a weekday at 6:30 PM for two, we enjoyed scallops, bone marrow, and seasonal tomato with Champagne, and the pairing of the charcoal-grilled scallops with Champagne stayed with me the most. Spending time this way, with real feeling to it, felt genuinely worthwhile.
