I went to Yakiniku Pungyeong, a well-known spot near Indeogwon Station, with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday with some good meat :) On your birthday you want something delicious, and I'd heard there was a great yakiniku place near Indeogwon, so we decided on yakiniku!!

I'd just gotten back from a trip to Japan and really wanted to have yakiniku again in Korea, so this was a great chance to discover a good yakiniku restaurant here 😀

Parking: 8 spaces in front of the building

Yakiniku Pungyeong offers parking for up to 8 cars in front of the building. If you park at the front or side buildings nearby, you'll get towed! If you're coming as a group, it might be worth asking ahead.

The place has a really nice atmosphere with a bit of a Japanese feel to it!

The side dishes came out really well, and after ordering they brought out the beef tongue first!

Doesn't the beef tongue look amazing! People who really know good beef tongue seek it out specifically, right! This place is the real deal 😋

Beef tongue, snowflake short rib, special short rib, and the beef tartare gamtae rice balls — it was the perfect filling amount for two people!

The meat quality was really great and the side dishes came out well too, making it the perfect spot for an anniversary or a date!

Yakiniku Pungyeong has such a cozy, nice atmosphere — great if you like to drink, and a really good place to have a serious conversation over a drink!!

Taste ranking: snowflake short rib, beef tongue, special short rib

So there's beef tongue, special short rib, and snowflake short rib!! For me, the order of deliciousness was snowflake short rib – beef tongue – special short rib 😊

We grilled the meat up nicely and the snowflake short rib genuinely melts in your mouth 🤤

The side dishes were so tasty too! Eating them alongside the meat kept things from getting repetitive, which I loved 👍🏻

The tomato-yuzu and scallion were kind of special 😃

Hanwoo beef tartare gamtae rice balls, 4 pieces for 38,000 won

The beef tartare gamtae rice balls looked so good that I ordered 4 pieces, and it was a total success 🥰

I finally got to enjoy the beef tongue we'd been waiting for 😋 Ever since my trip to Japan I've been hooked on beef tongue, but this was my first time trying it in Korea 😛 I ate the soft, chewy beef tongue topped with scallions :)

Dessert at Yakiniku Pungyeong: cream cheese dried persimmon, melon, canapés

For dessert they gave us cream cheese-stuffed dried persimmon, melon, and even canapés 🍈🤍 I was so touched they took care of the dessert too 🥹

If you're ordering a main dish, definitely order the beef tartare gamtae rice balls too! It was my first time trying them and they were such a delicious menu item!!
